The GOP establishment has been more than willing to make excuses for any and all ideological "heresies" on the part of its nominees (Mitt Romney's support for Obamacare Lite, George W. Bush's "compassionate conservative" expansion of the welfare state and crony capitalism, support for amnesty and open borders by McCain and the Bushes, etc), but the one ideological deviation that they won't tolerate is support for protective tariffs, in spite of the fact that the Republican Party has historically been the party of tariffs.

The take-home message is that the only core principles the GOP establishment holds to is outsourcing and cheap labor. Everything else is negotiable, at least when one of their own gets the nomination.

Ryan has built a career on betraying the conservative “principles” of the party of Abraham Lincoln.

What’s nest?

Will politicians claim the Founders were devoted to sexual freedom for cross-dressers and pedophiles as justification for their support of sexual perverts?

This marks the first time I’ve seen a Speaker of the House described as ‘coquetish’. Paul RINO does seem to be playing hard to get, and at his own peril. Watch it, boy, the Trumpers plan to Cantor you, big time. If you don’t
‘get your mind right’, you may be getting schlonged.

RINO RYAN is nothing but Barky’s butt kisser, that’s why he was put in there to replace the ‘drunken one’...

We don’t need Ryan for anything, and I hope Trump replaces him as speaker at the Convention, he’s another Hillary on the opposite side...

Just think, we would have been cheerleading Romney's re-election (well, others, I would have been banned soon after Romney expanded ObamaCare to include illegals and his triumphant signing of the Open Arms Act, welcoming illegals who simply need mail in a post card form to get their residency...) along with this guy who would be the presumptive presidential nominee for 2020.

I'd say thank you, Obama, but like always, it was simply handed to him by Romney rather than actually having to work.

In fairness in the 1830s and 1840s Lincoln was a Whig and there policies favored, for example, lots of government spending on canals and other infrastructure plus tariffs and strong currency. The whig party wasn’t particularly conservative in the sense of “small government” and using their platform from almost 200 years ago isn’t a good analog to today’s GOP.

Ryan is relying on the ignorance of the US public.

There was nothing ‘conservative’ about Lincoln. They were called ‘Radical Republicans’ back then. And Lincoln was quite fond of socialism and socialists.
