Joe Dan's political repartee is augmented with swipes from other media; in this video, "Paul Rodgers, the original lead vocalist for Bad Company and Free, teams up with legendary guitarist Brain May of Queen. Good stuff."
Their problem with Trump is that he is too conservative. They want amnesty and Wilsonian wars. Their 15 minutes are up.
Mark Levin, Erick Erickson, George Will, David Frum....
Let’s hope so.
Their problem with Trump is that they don’t trust him.
I cannot say that I blame him. I think many Trump supporters are going to be very disappointed.
But what the NeverTrump folks do not seem to understand is that they CAN trust Hillary! and Bernie to do their absolute best to loot and destroy the country.
I wouldn’t put Paul Ryan in that crowd. Trump and Ryan both put positive spin on their recent meeting. Why should we disbelieve either?
These nevertrumpers were all early supporters of Romney and McCain. The issue for them is not trust. Who could trust Romney? They represent the moderate wing of the party and as we saw in the primary there are no moderates left in the base. They are a dying breed and will soon be gone. This would have happened with or without Trump.
Nope. Won't be any disappointment here. I supported the best cadidate in this race, and that was Trump. If he goes back on his word at this point, I can tell you the general feeling will not be disappointment. The general consensus will be that the ballot box no longer works, and it's time to bring on the next box.
I would. As Speaker of the House, he doesn't have the luxury of dragging things out. Elected Republicans have to get behind the nominee and keep the majority in the HOR. We should be advocating for Cantorizing any 'pub who can't support the nominee, thus enabling the madness of Romney, Ryan, Cruz, the Bushes and Company.
Both Romney and McQueeg were ‘predictable’ and with ‘proven track records.’
In other words, they were wholly owned subsidiaries of the Establishment.
Even Cruz was predictable and had connections to the GOP.
To them, Trump is a total loose cannon.
I’ll take Ryan and Trump at their word and consider their meeting together a positive step.
I supported McCain and Romney, but am not a “Never Trump” voter—I go for the best of two electable options. In ‘08 and ‘12 it was those two.
It is distressing and irritating that there remains:
a) GOP holdouts who insisted the rank and file support McCain and Romney that are now refusing to support Trump. (see: Bill Kristol)
b) Trump advocates who are insisting that those Republicans who opposed him are low life scum who need to be jettisoned.
Reagan was right about not abandoning the party—and it seems to me both those in group a and b are moving in that direction. Anti-Trump holdouts do indeed need to get over it. And Trump advocates need to be congenial winners—knowing that in the end our goal is to defeat Hitlery and then govern in a respectable manner.
On a policy note, I think Congressional leaders who want to work with Trump really need to speak to him about entitlement and/or Social Security reform. Trump says he won’t touch it—which is a mistake in my opinion. George W. Bush was the last to make a serious try at this in 2005 and was resisted by Nasty Pelozi...and things are not getting better. We need to take care of it.
And we need to pray for a Spiritual Awakening in this nation. Without a revival that awakens hearts to Jesus, we are doomed.
Frightened walker pilots who need a GOP nightlight to sleep at night would likely break a hip climbing into a foxhole anyway.
“ the self-appointed guardians of conservatism...”
Or as I called them long ago, the “self-appointed Politburo of Conservative Correctness”.
Thank you
Joe Dan??
Izzat you?!
Hey good news Erick Erickson is leaving the GOP. Buh bye!
Really?
Is he going third party now?
