HANOI, Vietnam The United States is rescinding a decades-old ban on sales of lethal military equipment to Vietnam, President Obama announced at a news conference in Hanoi on Monday, ending one of the last legal vestiges of the Vietnam War.
The decision to lift the ban was not based on China or any other considerations, he said, with the Vietnamese president, Tran Dai Quang, standing stiffly by his side. It was based on our desire to complete what has been a lengthy process of moving toward normalization with Vietnam.

Well Obama just announced todat that Vietnam is buying 100 Boeing 737 MAX airliners to be delivered over 4 years.
But the USSR is gone and Vietnam is Communist INO and is now a authoritarian socialist state with crony capitalists running amok. They seem to fit the profile of the perfect Obama ally since that our current politic.
But the boogey man is China so this must be a good thing, no? China is a threat to us but Vietnam is not. Vietnam would love to be a threat to China. This looks better than arming Shiites to fight ISIS doesn’t it? Or arming Syrian rebels who support ISIS to check Russia from keeping Assad in his dessert paradise.

Last year the U.S had a trade deficit of $31 billion with Vietnam. So, Vietnam has a lot of dollars with which to buy military goods from us.
President Ike is rolling over in his grave and is saying, I warned you about the military/industrial complex! You never listen!
Or in plain English, the Neocons never stop selling a new war and their weapons of war.
