Wal-mart Stores reported quarterly earnings and revenue that beat analysts' expectations on Thursday.
The company posted first-quarter earnings per share of 98 cents, compared to $1.03 a share in the year-earlier period.
Revenue for the quarter came in at $115.9 billion, against the comparable year-ago figure of $114.83 billion.

Now they are dancing around the stunning numbers. Even my wife said the obvious: "Looks like Target customers went to Wal Mart recently".
Don't know if that is the case, but perception seems to be reality here. ......Now if they can just stock some .22LR I'll make a visit.
But but but Traget CEO said......
Target results were affected by:
Cold spring in North East
Economy
Rising fuel prices
Customers spending on home
yet magically WMT results were not..mmmmm
Shopping at Target is un American. Sad!
If Target already had a problem, why did they ever do something so dumb? Perhaps their decision makers were already trashing Target with bad decision making before this blunder.
I would never try on clothes in Target. Yuck. Who knows where their women's clothing has been?
No guarantee wal-mart won’t end up pushing the same crap.

No guarantee that government won’t sue Walmart if they do not push the same crap.
That's a good point to make.
I look for them to do just that with the same results.
The pagan heathen left likes to ‘punish’ Christians for not going along with their evil by boycotting or bankrupting them or by lawless obama decrees,
But don’t like it when there’s push back,
More believers need to wake up to whats happening.
I hate target.
I despise Walmart, which is hating minus 10%.
Yeah, don’t elevate Walmart to something they no longer are. Their liberal women on their board (and men) have given in to liberal humanistic stuff, gay marriage, all the stuff we hate. The only thing they haven’t done is the bathroom thing.
Look it up. Don’t put them on a pedestal.
That said, I don’t want to take away from my enjoyment seeing the liberal women who shop at Target get worried...oh, sorry, silly me, they don’t know this.
It may already be too late for Target, as Wal-Mart is expanding almost exponentially at the expense of the declining share going to Target.
WalMart is screwing down on inventory, possibly as a reaction to appeasing Obozo and raising wages.
For past 3 years they have sucked locally about what they carry and how much they are out of inventory.
I don’t like to shop WalMart, especially for groceries. They don’t have a clue on grocery marketing.
There is a locally owned family operation that kicked them to the curb. But for that matter they do everyone else but HEB in Abilene. And they hold their own with them.
WalMart has been raising prices and cutting inventory for a number of years. They closed 2 in my area that had been open less than 6 months. (small neighborhood format)
I knew a retailer who worked for Sam Walton when he had 12 stores. They were a good operation for a long time. I met their Labor Relations Lawyer when I lived in OK, at a seminar he was involved in. They are now run by Kmart mentality management.
They are bullies with suppliers, but that has come home to them. Their comp store numbers have been stagnant for some time. Their model appears to be reaching maturity and declining.
I bet they already do. They’re just smart enough to stay quiet about it though.
When Walmart made the DUMB decision to remove the fabric departments they took a huge hit, especially in more rural areas where even they are a long drive away.
As for prices they are comparable to Kroger’s, and they don’t give gas points on groceries or gift cards they sell. Kroger’s does. It was real handy when gas was $4 a gallon. Even at $2 a gallon, that $1 off is still nice. I use their coupons and the ones that come in the mail. Meat I buy at the Commissary as it is higher quality and lower priced. Commissary is about equal to Kroger’s in price on most things and they don’t give gas points. Base gas is always a few cents higher too.
Exchange is for the well off who can afford $200 for a Vera Wang cheap chinsese made cloth wallet.
Actually not stunning numbers compared to last year. But yeah, some Target customers going to Walmart undoubtedly helped beat expectations.
I’ve spent my life in the West & Mid-West. Lots of rural areas. Traveled for a living for 35 years. Sales, Managment, support positions in the wholesale distribution business.
I love open spaces and the people who inhabit it. I am terribly out of place in cities. Simply don’t like the confinement.
We are remodeling a home we have at the farm, was built in 1948 by my grandfather. As soon as that is done we are moving out of town (4 miles). Town by the way is 600 people. hee hee hee
My family has owned/operated farms here since 1889. I am not a recluse but I like my privacy.
The only good thing I can say about Amazon deliveries regarding politics is they don’t have the power to force you to accept perverts into your home (that, as yet, being an unsolved problem on the left).
The fabric department in our local Walmart actually came back a couple of years ago. (thankfully)
Kudos to Walmart. They pulled that off in a VERY tough retail environment.
