Dumb question: if planes descend, do they disappear off tracking? If so, why is this so? If the plane descends intact, why wouldn’t it be traceable? (I realize that if it is blown up, it would tend to “disappear.”
Again CNN assuming the plane made a landing and was ditched in the water... Ok, this guy did say that isn’t likely since there is no communication.

Good question. Flightawre has 37000 ft then nothing which means for whatever reason that plane fell out of the sky not descended.
Bomb, missle, or just came apart in midair similar to the airfrance flight.

Bomb, missle, or just came apart in midair similar to the airfrance flight.
Or suicide by pilot.
No communication. No emergency broadcast. No contact with Cairo air control when they entered Egyptian airspace. No transponder signal.

Yeah, the way I (lay person) see this, there is no way this isn’t terrorism in one way or another. An attack on the plane (bomb, missile) or an inside job by a pilot.

Unbelievable. “So all is well, if your family member is in good health. They will survive for 3.5 hours in the water.” With the graphic to tell how many hours each level of health would survive. It was almost as bad as that Jetblue skit on SNL where they make a mockup online of a plane coming down without wheels, and show that even the survivors will all spontaneously combust.

If the transponder is working you would, I believe, be able to track it all the way down depending upon how often it squawks. If the power is cut or there is some catastrophic failure (boom!) then probably not.

If that is true, then clearly on its face this plane “ended” in the air. And no one wants to say it out of respect for the families, I suppose?
