‘She loved being a mother’: Pregnant woman executed for refusing abortion, family says

...One of the things Candace Pickens was going through in recent months, relatives said, was a volatile and abusive relationship — one she managed to keep hidden from some of the people who knew her best in and around Asheville, N.C., where she lived.

Her boyfriend, Nathaniel Elijah Dixon, had a violent history that included attempted robbery and allegations of domestic violence against another woman with whom he had a child, according to the Citizen-Times. In addition to Dixon’s extensive criminal history, police think he has possible ties to a Los Angeles street gang.

When Pickens recently discovered that she was pregnant with Dixon’s child, abortion was not an option, she told friends and family members.

She would have a second child, she insisted.

Now, relatives think it was that insistence that may have led to her death.

Bad taste in men will do that to you. I deal with a lot of abused women, and often they have a history of bad taste in men and go from one abusive relationship to another. In cases where it is an anomaly, their options to leave and hide are limited if there are children involved.

In short, women need to be taught their worth is more than a man.

I have a boring job that sees a lot of the public. I take mental statistics and am always mentally figuring totals and ratios for something. One thing I have tracked is the ration of white women passing me with mulatto children, or mixed mulatto and white, to white women with all white children. It is a steady 20% and varies very little. Most of the Negro males accompanying such women as have males accompanying them are dreadlocked scuzzes who have to walk about holding onto their belt buckles to keep their pants somewhat up. My principal problem with mixed matings is that all those children will grow up to vote Democrat.

The white GIs and neat workingmen with Negro wives and the white women with neat intelligent looking Negro husbands, and there are small but significant numbers of both matches, give me no heartburn. If the couple with children looks married and not just hooked up I have no problem with them at all other than the future voting habits of the progeny.

Execution doesn’t imply guilt though one can infer it. Warring parties execute innocent people all the time. Execution is summary killing of someone who is not threatening you and whom you are not trying to rob.

I have tremendous sympathy for this woman and her child and their family. Such a terrible story.

But sadly this is an all too familiar story . Nice girl hooks up with the bad boy with the criminal record and has children out of wedlock. The the one of two things are the result. 1) The baby daddy leaves and mama raise the children without a male influence (and with taxpayer assistance) and the child grows to be a troubled youth. 2) She ends up dead at the hands of the bad boy.

This is not how God intended the family to be. Any time we stray away from Gods best intentions for us, chaos or tragedy is the result.
