Politically ignorant people like Rowling are subject to being duped by the media because they do not look beyond the headlines. They have no clue what Trump is really about. AHA! The species still exists - the intellectually-consistent liberal - which all had thought to have been hunted down to extinction.

Seriously, I can remember several of my (extremely liberal) teachers in the mid- and late-70s saying words to the effect of, “I will defend to the death your right to be wrong.” Good and honest of them - they realize that their rights and ours are intertwined, despite the fact that we disagree with each other.

If only all of the Left was like this - the world would be a lot better. However, most of the Left is straight out totalitarian - they are not merely interested in winning a particular election or political fight, they are interested in completely dominating everyone’s words, deeds and thoughts.

Not bad - I'm not sure if Rowling knows what she means when she uses the term "bigot" in this context. But for a lot of Europeans, border control is bigotry ipso facto and in need of no further consideration. They're paying for that happy illusion now. Nevertheless, the principle that one set of rules for all guarantees one set of rights for all is an old and honored axiom of Western politics and one that the Left openly disdains as antithetical to social engineering. She may come around yet.
