Newt is too old. Could be chief of staff though.

Yes. We've been saying this for weeks, but our peers can't add 72+16 and determine that Newt would be 88 years old at the end of his second term if both he and Trump go 2 terms.

Furthermore, Newt as Chief of Staff would be in a much more important and advisory position to assist Trump guiding and maneuvering through the DC maze of legislators, lobbyists, and assorted crooks.

No one has the skills and experience that Newt can provide to Trump.

Totally agree. Newt could add a level of supervision and experience over Trump’s agenda like no one else.

The VP choice would not be as critical if Newt were chief of staff.

The benefit of Newt as VP is not to succeed Trump, but to clinch the victory. Newt knows how to deal with the media, more effectively than any of the others being mentioned.

An elder statesman certainly can be Vice President. A White House Chief Of Staff should be much younger, because the actual duties would be more demanding--energy-wise.
