I think the problem is that the DNC does not want Sanders to be president. If Hillary chooses him as the VP and then if she *cough* *cough* has to leave the race ... then her VP choice pretty much has to be the follow-on nominee. The DNC does not want that.
Hillary will hold off on any VP talk until she has no choice. In the meantime, if something — you know — forced her out the race, Joe Biden would be chosen as the replacement.

As it becomes clear that Hillary is likely to lose, Bill's health will appear to decline and the very loving Hillary will decide to end her pursuit of the Presidency in order to provide loving care to her wondrous husband. <> "Ah know ah was a gonna win, but my po dear husban is so much mo impotent."
