NR brand of conservatism has run its course, totally discredited and on its way to the dustbin of history, along with it are figures like Rush Limbaugh, Mark Levin, Bill Buckley and Jack Kemp,
GOPee.
National Review and NRO are a joke. They’re pretty much ESPN it seems any more.
Gee, can’t imagine why their subscriptions are dropping like a stone.
Good riddance.
With the “working (middle) class dead, who will pay all the bills for the socialist leftists?
I forgot where I heard it...
When blacks get mad cities burn. When whites get mad continents burn.
I think William Buckley would turn over in his grave if he knew his National Review was writing such things. Shocking.
NR is not a publication for the Republican “elite,” for starters. And what is this mincing words about white welfare class? Do they mean what used to be called “white trash”? They are now a tiny subset of society, vastly outnumbered by black and hispanic “trash.” All of whom are pretty much Democrats anyway, aren’t they?
So what is the point, except to make white people afraid to vote Trump lest they begin to identify as losers? Am I just not getting it?
The destruction of the working and middle class whites is the reason for the opioid and suicide rates skyrocketing,
If most of us stand back and take an objective view, we can see that a lot of what is happening to the white middle-class is self -inflicted. Sure, the Gub'mint has sped things up, but we as a class have done a lousy job of raising our children - why is their focus off of church and service-to-others and onto self and entertainment?
Addicted to pornography and video games, our young men have not grown up into adults and our young women cannot find mates that have jobs and a family focus.
Go ahead and shoot the messenger, but that doesn't make our plight any less real.
FUNR!
I think a huge part of the problem is that when this trend towards “globalism” happened back in the early Nineties there really was no mechanism in place to transition a significant amount of the working population who were losing their jobs into meaningful employment. One significant reason is that it didn’t happen over night. It took us an entire generation it get where we’re currently at. Most just tried to hold on which is a natural human reaction to the situation. I can remember after leaving the Navy back in the early Eighties. My father worked for General Motors at the time and offered to get me in to the factory. I thought about it but eventually said that I thanked him for the opportunity but my future was not at the plant. I could see the writing was on the wall even back then. I opted to go on to college which was the best decision I ever made. Unfortunately not every one has those options or opportunities. I believe that after 20 years we’re reaching a breaking point with the working class population. This most certainly has been exacerbated by the massive influx of both legal and illegal immigration which has greatly depressed the remaining jobs that are available to this segment of our population. While I don’t have all the answers I certainly agree with quite a few of Donald Trump’s positions and believe that they would be very beneficial to America. Staying the course is no longer a viable option.
I disagree with that last part.
Our Nation and culture has been under attack since I have been able to read a newspaper. The elites seek to destroy white people as a political and economic force. They seek to marginalize and disenfranchise them, needing only their tax dollars for their continued existence.
One example: In analyzing the programming that is provided by the media, it is apparent that the agenda of the elites is one of hatred and contempt for white people and their (mainstream) culture.
Trump is ok with foreign labor crowding my field. There is no lack of US candidates for these jobs.
I just did a “diversity training” course online for my job and it pushed the stat that within 10 years white men will only be 31 percent of office staffing (not any specific field).
Not sure where all of those white men in America’s labor pool (with degrees no less) are supposed to work until they reach retirement.
Supporting the black, Hispanic middle class = good
Supporting the white middle class = bad
Someone needs to force them to explain this on tv.
Oh, my word. First, the Civil War happened to them, especially the independent-minded and agrarian Scots-Irish, who having migrated later were already under the thumb of descendents of the colonial English plantation elites. Scots-Irish have traditionally made up a large percentage of the U.S. military until the present, and have sacrificed their young men for this country at a higher rate than many other ethnic groups.
Regardless of what side anyone sympathized with in the Civil War, the North oppressed the South economically for 100 years after the conflict, making sure the South would not "rise again" against the Union. Lower economic sector whites lived with poor schools and economic exploitation, working in coal mines in Appalachia, the Northern-owned textile and lumber-related industries elsewhere in the South, or fisheries and tourism along the coast.
There was a brief period of rising fortunes from the 1970s to 2008, but at the same time, NAFTA and offshoring started destroying the textile and furniture industries beginning in the early 90s .
During the Obama administration, our president purposefully announced that he would break the coal industry, manipulated the BP oil spill, paralyzing fisheries and tourism in the Gulf states, and has made Southern history and culture a particular target. In particular, white Christian Southerners who "cling to their Bibles" have been targeted for punishment or separation in the military, where open expressions of Christian belief are now regarded as destructive to unit cohesion and morale.
National Review: playbook for out of touch OLD GOPe jerks...may they rot in hell...
Maybe if everyone else didn’t live on these peoples backs they could do better.
