AMY MOSES and her circle of self-employed small-business owners were supporters of President Obama and the Affordable Care Act. They bought policies on the newly created New York State exchange. But when they called doctors and hospitals in Manhattan to schedule appointments, they were dismayed to be turned away again and again with a common refrain: We dont take Obamacare, the umbrella epithet for the hundreds of plans offered through the presidents signature health legislation.
Anyone who is on these plans knows its a two-tiered system, said Ms. Moses, describing the emotional sting of those words to a successful entrepreneur.
Anytime one of us needs a doctor, she continued, we send out an alert: Does anyone have anyone on an exchange plan that does mammography or colonoscopy? Who takes our insurance? Its really a problem.
The goal of the Affordable Care Act, which took effect in 2013, was to provide insurance to tens of millions of uninsured or under-insured Americans, through online state and federal marketplaces offering an array of policies. By many measures, the law has been a success: The number of uninsured Americans has dropped by about half, with 20 million more people gaining coverage. It has also created a host of new policies for self-employed people like Ms. Moses, who previously had insurance but whose old plans were no longer offered.
Yet even as many beneficiaries acknowledge that they might not have insurance today without the law, there remains a strong undercurrent of discontent. Though their insurance cards look the same as everyone elses with names like Liberty and Freedom from insurers like Anthem or United Health the plans are often very different from those provided to most Americans by their employers. Many say they feel as if they have become second-class patients.

The slobs wanted free health care. Everyone was forced to purchase one-size-fits-all insurance whether they needed it or not. The price of this compulsory product has skyrocketed. And for all intents and purposes, it is useless.
homobama must be laughing his ass off over having swindled the American people into forking over their hard earned cash for what is, in effect, wooden nickels.

It's appalling. This is anecdotal. Many of my friends and acquaintances are highly intelligent, highly educated folks who have take very good care of their bodies and minds. Most of them have sold out their bodies and even their minds to the insurance companies and the medical profession. They jump through all the hoops, and take every medicine and treatment they're given. It doesn't even bother them that their treatment is based on what the insurance company provides, not what's best for them.
Two new conditions that have been invented for them....pre-diabetes and early stage symptoms of possible Alzeimers or dementia. Why THE HECK would anyone allow those diagnoses to appear on their medical records?

Why would the NY Slimes,of all papers, run a story like this? Is it meant to set the stage for the next phase of “reform”,complete gov’t takeover of health care? It's certainly no meant to suggest that ObamaCare is an utter failure and was a failure from the very start.

So the Affordable Healthcare Act allows providers to decline services? Why didn't Nancy Pelosi notice that when she read the bill before she voted for it? Oh, wait...
So you can't be denied coverage for existing conditions, but you can be denied actual healthcare. AMY MOSES and other Obama supporters must be waiting for Baraq to swoop in and solve her problem. In the meantime, can't she just find different providers?

Is it meant to set the stage for the next phase of reform, complete govt takeover of health care?Duh.
There may be an 18-24 month intermediate stage where refusing Obamacare as payment in full is no longer permitted (Massachusetts has done this for Medicare and Medicaid since 1986 without a ripple), but it's more probable that we will have collapse and full nationalization by 2018 at the latest.

It has also created a host of new policies for self-employed people like Ms. Moses, who previously had insurance but whose old plans were no longer offered.I wonder if the author realizes how appalling stupid this sounds.
Plans which are no longer offered have now been replaced by a bunch of new one-size-fits-all plans which vary only in basics like the amount of deductible and co-pay and forces you to buy coverage you don't need and will never use.
And Rosenthal talks about it like it is a good thing.

Medical licenses being recalled is next.Something like that but just short of it. They will attempt to make Obamacare acceptance a requirement for issuing licenses. Massachusettes did this in the past to attempt to make assignment to Medicaid mandatory.
A number of docs left the state.

Two new conditions that have been invented for them....pre-diabetes and early stage symptoms of possible Alzeimers or dementia. Why THE HECK would anyone allow those diagnoses to appear on their medical records? The reason is that with proper treatment early on, the development of the full-blown conditions can be delayed and a good quality of life can be maintained for longer.
