Who Will Be Trump's, Clinton's Vice President?
NPR ^ | May 14, 2016 | Mara Liasson

The two most important criteria are always the same:

1. Pick someone who's would ready to be president, if necessary, and
2. DO NO HARM

He's said he'd like someone with political and legislative experience to help him deal with congress, and he's also said he'd consider some of his former rivals...

1. Former opponents

Both Rick Perry and Bobby Jindal have endorsed Trump. Both are former governors. But Trump will probably win Texas and Louisiana without them...

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie was one of Trump's earliest establishment endorsers.. If being an attack dog is a top requirement for a VP candidate then Christie's evisceration of Marco Rubio is a qualification/ recommendation. Then again, Trump usually takes care of those duties himself.

John Kasich, Ted Cruz and Rubio all fit Trump's criteria, though Rubio has ruled it out, and it's hard to see Kasich or Cruz on the ticket after their previous brutal fights with Trump...

2. Members of Congress — current and former

Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich knows something about running against the establishment. He's made it clear he'd be happy to be on the ticket...

If Trump is smart he will pick a guy like Cruz that can rally conservatives.

Perhaps - if that's what he does, then there aren't enough conservatives or he'd be in the catbird seat....He has alienated a bunch of his original base and may prove more a drag than a help at this point. He will surely turn off a lot of Independents and even a number of Dems who say they will/would vote for Trump.

Thank you. I will ponder this because I hadn’t considered it before. Your approach may be the best bet. They certainly don’t want to face facts

Nope. I just don’t throw proven Conservatives on our side overboard.

I asked a question, you couldn’t answer it.

So because I support a ticket of Trump and Cruz you won’t “enjoy” my posts anymore ?

You guys gotta let go of the hate and realize we need to unify for the good of November.

It’s a settled issue.

It’s a settled issue, and is really just trollbait. Just because you don’t want it to be doesn’t make it so.

Trump choosing Cruz as a VP would work out about as well as Kennedy choosing LBJ.

Cruz is doing his darnedest to insure we lose. Only his very brainwashed believers would believe he would be of any benefit to the ticket.

You do know without having LBJ on the ticket, Kennedy could not have stolen the election from Nixon ?

Pure bitterness and complete nonsense. It’s time to bury your hatred and unite so we can win in November.

Well Trump doesn’t need to steal the election so he has no real need for a crooked Texas politician.

Fortunately, La Raza Rick isn’t on his shortlist for VP, but Cruz is a top pick for him. Getting a solid Conservative who is hated by the establishment as much as Trump is and who (along with Trump) received the largest bulk of the primary votes makes Cruz a superb selection.

Trump-Cruz 2016 !

The only people who believe Cruz is a “solid Conservative who is hated by the establishment” are Cruz supporters who willfully ignore all of the known facts about him.

A deeply principled conservative wouldn’t have been a GOP hack for Dubya

Yeah, it is so settled... that Mitch the Senate refused to resolved for Cruz like the Senate resolved lord McCain eligible.. Mitch the Senate is a lot of things but not even he would sanction the subversion of our Constitution... Ted Cruz’s so called claim to fame was he followed the ‘original intent’ of our Constitution... But NONE, not even he, himself make that claim any longer. Ted Cruz flat out lied about ‘eligibility’ all by himself.

Trump’s VP will be chosen for his or her abilities and experience.

H*****y’s VP will be chosen for his or her minority credentials.
