Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro on Saturday ordered authorities to seize factories that have stopped production and jail their owners, a day after declaring a state of emergency to combat the country's economic crisis.
"We must take all measures to recover productive capacity, which is being paralyzed by the bourgeoisie," he told a rally in Caracas.
"Anyone who wants to halt (production) to sabotage the country should get out, and those who do must be handcuffed and sent to the PGV (Venezuelan General Penitentiary)," he said.

Interesting response. In similar fashion, look at the history of the Jewish people as presented from Genesis through Deuteronomy and beyond. They had the guidance of the LORD in front of them, guiding them, yet they still refused to obey the commandments and sinned—deviated—from the path they were asked—commanded—to follow. The problem is sin, we refuse to acknowledge our Creator and follow His commandments, the rest is history, and will continue until the end of history.
Next comes the mass burials.
For those who can read Spanish, some excellent commentaries have been written by Gustavo Coronel. IIRC he wrote for petroleumworld.com and they had translations, but now the only place I can find him is his blog in Spanish:

He was firmly anti-Chavez from the start. I think he lives in Florida now. He was in the oil business years back and saw what was coming. Took Chavez at his word and logically foresaw the consequences.
My thoughts exactly; maybe they can make invisible clothes for Emperor Maduro. Any country accepting Venezuelan paper (currency or bonds) is foolish; they may be able to trade them for Confederate banknotes or become Zimbabwean trillionaires...
Coming to America soon if Sanders or Clinton is ever elected
A Salvador Allende moment from the past.
This follows countries founded with Catholicism as its original religion.
No Protestant ethic like the US, Canada, and Australia.
An inherent problem of socialism is the lack of incentives for people to be productive. Mr. Maduro is addressing the issue in the traditional manner.
I’m actually surprised there are “factory owners” left...
Off topic, but I found this gem in Wikipedia regarding the communist Allende’s attempt to fundamentally transform Chile in 1970-3.
“On 26 May 1973, Chiles Supreme Court unanimously denounced the Allende régimes disruption of the legality of the nation in its failure to uphold judicial decisions. It refused to permit police execution of judicial resolutions that contradicted the Government’s measures.”
Sound familiar? Howya going to fundamentally transform a nation, if legality and constitutions get in the way?
He also blamed the failure of production of goods and food on right-wing reactionaries, as he completely ignored economic concepts that have been in effect since mankind first huddled together in a society.
This stuff just keeps repeating and repeating, as if no one ever learns.
Which neighboring country is going to invade Venezuela first????
A Venezuelan “factory owner” is about the same as a Red Chinese “factory owner”; the state assumed control of both long ago.
People investing in Red China understand they are just buying cheap labor; everything physically in the country belongs to the Chinese Communist Party...
I know a guy who worked in IT down there for years. In the end he sent his family home and was moving around a lot to keep from being arrested before he finally got out. He told me Chavez put so many regs and rules on the factories that they simply shut down and walked away leaving all of the equipment there. But nobody knew who to run it.
One trait kleptocratic Venezuela shares with kleptocratic Mexico is both refuse to let our Hurricane Hunter aircraft into their airspace. Paranoia.
Why isn’t there an outbreak of agriculture among the people there? Zero has turned millions of degreed millennials into farmers in the farm-to-table movement. I read some of their army guys got busted for stealing goats, starving for meat. With their water systems, aquaculture could be huge... they really have no excuse for all this failure to eradicate socialism.. so they must want it as a people. Like someone upthread suggested, airdrop ten million copies of Ayn Rand on ‘em.

Thanks for the Ping Publius
The armed forces will turn once they have nothing to eat.
Narrow-minded stupidity...just who do they think builds the stuff they buy in the stores?

Believe me, there are people here just as stupid. My step daughter is almost 40 years old and she still does not understand how social security works. And don’t try to explain property taxes. If the landlord’s taxes go up she doesn’t understand why her rent should go up. In fact, she does not understand the concept of a mortgage.
I wonder what Vincente Fox and the Mexican government will say about keeping the refugees out.
