earn a living wage ($12/hour ....Is that a living wage for a person who lives at his parent’s house and takes a bus (or less likely walks) to work or is a living wage for someone who rents an apartment (or God forbid pays a mortgage)has children and needs a vehicle to fullfill his obligations? I’m cornfused. Is this Socialism writ large?

$12 an hour, 35 hours a week is $420. It's a living wage for folks who find an inexpensive but safe neighborhood, depend on public transportation, make excellent nutritional and lifestyle choices. Keep in mind that the person would pay next to no taxes and probably have some small benefits from work and probably some overtime opportunities. It's enough to "cut the chord" from being dependent on the gov.

Consider that is $21,840 a year. Many senior citizens are living on that amount or less.....without any government handouts.
