Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump appears to have softened his stance on temporarily barring Muslims from travelling to the US.

Responding to remarks by London Mayor Sadiq Khan, Mr Trump told Fox News Radio the ban was "just a suggestion".

At least it is a better suggestion or proposal or whatever than what we have now. The president doesn’t have the power to implement a policy unilaterally in any case. Sending these immigration ideas to a commission will work out the details and get him on secure legal footing before putting it out as a formal policy, hopefully before the election.

TYPICAL LEFTIST MEDIA TACTICS:

  1. EXAGGERATE WHAT SOMEONE SAYS TO MAKE THEM LOOK AWFUL.

  2. CLAIM THAT SOMEONE IS 'SOFTENING THEIR POSITION' WHEN LEFTIST MEDIA FINALLY REPORTS WHAT WAS ACTUALLY SAID.

Lack of principles? Placing a temporary moratorium on Muslim immigration until we figure out what’s going on would indeed be a highly principled commonsense act, but I don’t think this was ever part of Trump’s original plan. And it was no part of anyone’s plan. If I remember correctly, Trump just kind of threw it out there during a campaign rally a day or two after the San Bernardino Muslim terrorist attack. It caught in like wildfire amongst his supporters, but the entire ruling class (other than possibly Jeff Sessions) and all fellow candidates and “conservative” pundits immediately pooh-pooed the idea as being unconstitutional.

We’ll see. I hope he gets it done, but it would be a Herculean task.

I can never understand people that pick a candidate and blindly follow them. Anyone who dares to question said candidate is then flamed and attacked by them. I am willing to criticize my candidate or express differences with said candidate. It’s important to hold the candidate to the fire. We like Trump because he ran a campaign criticizing politicians for capitulating. We want someone who isn’t politically correct and will say and do something he believes is right regardless of the media and party bosses. Candidates can’t forget the people who put them where they are.

If he goes soft on the wall and/or muslims he loses my vote. And that’s just what Ryan and that bunch wants. The only way Trump can win this if he tells the gope to go to hell.

I'm just worried that he'll be the perfect lump of clay for the leftist serpents that inhabit DC. When things go wrong and the people get angry, they'll slither back into congress throwing stones, it'll be Trump that catches all the blame.

Yup...my exact sentiments...

Trump is obviously a smart man, a savvy businessman, a leader...

I honestly don't think he understands the depth of and lack of any moral and ethical scruples, cravenness, the democrats and some GOP in DC have...

They will look him square in the eye, shake his hand, sign any agreement and double cross him in less than a heartbeat...

When it goes sideways, they will blame Trump becuae he is the leader of the party...

And the media will be pedal to the metal and these the second one especially, since exaggerating does’t hurt Trump very much. People want Trump to be strong, but they do not want him to weaken.

I think the second method is going to be used very much, noticed it lately.

Agree completely! I was a Cruz supporter until a few months ago and I made a number of calls to his campaign HQ here in PA to question things he said. The only thing I got was even more solicitations for money.

We will be another Germany when Obama imports the 100,000 ‘Immigrants’ (colonists, Jihadists) that he has said he will do before his term ends.

Only Donald can stop this sheer insanity.

Obama has vowed to import 100,000 ‘immigrants’ (colonists, Jihadists0 before he’s done.

Donald will put a stop to this insanity.
He is the only one with guts enough to even bring this subject up.
We need him. He’s our last hope.

Germans don’t own 1/50th the number of guns that we do.

Omars & Achmeds who attempt rape here will frequently wind up dead & porked.

Hint: As the polls point to a Trump victory, expect cries of “impending anti-Muslim reign of terror!” to break out.

It will be about f*****g time.

Dear friend, we've x-changed simpatico posts a number of times you and I. I have not been able to catch up on FR the last couple of days.

What is the latest on Trump "backing off" of the temporary muslim ban "until we get a handle on it"?

Any other friends who see this, please weigh in. I haven't found anything definitive. Yes, I heard it when he first said it: it's TEMPORARY. But has he backed off ENTIRELY, not just the temporary part but any kind of ban until we can figure out how to vet them?
