Mayor Rahm Emanuel on Wednesday blamed his dismal showing in a New York Times poll on 40 years of financial neglect of Chicagos South and West sides not on disenchantment with him.
One year after the mayors second inauguration, 62 percent of those surveyed disapproved of Emanuels performance as mayor. Only 25 percent approved of the job the mayor is doing.
...
Without mentioning former Mayor Richard M. Daley by name, Emanuel laid the blame squarely on the doorstep of his predecessor and political mentor.

Love those Leftists. Good thing they don’t have too much power.
He’s reaching back pretty far ... trying to find a Republican to blame?
...and the horse you rode in on, ballerina boy.
They just need more funding/S
Well, it’s obviously the Republicans’ fault. Just because they haven’t held the Mayor’s office in 85 years is no excuse.
Forty years of neglect? A more accurate description would be 40 plus years of looting—it is the core mission of the Dem party and he is all-in with that mission. His bad poll numbers are just the price he must pay for being mayor when the kitty has been scraped too long. That’s the breaks. Same story in Detroit and in the bankrupt cities of Calif.
Pretty soon, you run out of other peoples’ money and the baby birds you lord over get upset.
If you think that Rahm is bad news, consider the most recent alternative... CHUY!
A progressive and a reformer, García is a Preckwinkle ally and was a supporter of former Chicago Mayor Harold Washington.
Chuy moved to the US in 1965 with permanent resident status.????
On Mother’s Day 2001, Garcia and members of the group demanded construction of a high school promised to the community, but unfunded. 14 parents and grandparents organized a hunger strike. 19 DAYS, NO STARVATION REPORTED!
If nothing else, the old council wars, put on a very good show!
Herold was not my guy, but he gave as well as he got, almost.
I’m sure the Chicago people just misunderstood the question and will rally eternally for Mr. Emanuel.
Chicago should have voted for Bernard Epton in 1983. He was their last chance, said, “Vote for Epton. Before It’s Too Late”.
Dems have controlled Chicago since 1931.
So, Rahm, look in the mirror.
‘40 years of financial neglect of Chicagos South and West sides’
Of course there is financial neglect of a giant ghetto. No sense throwing good money after bad.
Daley is Ronald Reagan compared to that PUNK, Rahm!!
Bernard Epton gave it a good shot!
Also, had Harold Washington lived longer, it may have helped.
There was some balance between Harold and Fast Eddie.
Daley junior was bad news.
I, in the western suburbs will pay forever for his giveaways!
