Cruz Running for Re-election in 2018
Texas Tribune ^ | 5-11-16 | Patrick Svitek

Posted on 05/11/2016 11:33:55 AM PDT by bigbob

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz, R-Texas, plans to run for re-election in 2018.

Cruz, who ended his presidential campaign last week, said "yes" when asked Wednesday morning by a reporter in Washington, D.C., if he would seek a second term, according to CNN and The Hill. Cruz's office later confirmed the exchange.

The announcement adds some clarity to Cruz's political future following his decision to exit the presidential race on May 3. While Cruz could change his mind, running for re-election in 2018 puts to rest some speculation he would sit out a second term to prepare for a comeback bid for the White House in 2020.

Cruz was first elected to the Senate in 2012, when he upset then-Lt. Gov. David Dewhurst in the Republican primary to replace Kay Bailey Hutchison.

Trump doesn’t have ten billion and when you don’t pay your debts you are a deadbeat. Simple stuff that doesn’t need Leo Tolstoy to write.

And the reality is that calling for and supporting the removal of solid conservatives from the Senate helps either the Democrats or at the very least the GOPe.

The subject is not who will or will not vote for Trump. The topic is if Freepers will support the calls to primary out one of the strongest conservatives in the Senate. Please do not hijack the thread.

You really need to read the articles. What that line is saying is that when Trump was raising money for his business, he initially presented that he would not need to use junk bonds. However, the reality is that he did have to resort to junk bonds in order to raise the money he needed. And subsequently FAILED to pay the amount of money he promised.

What part of “ his creditors were repaid “ do you not willfully understand?

Go back and reread your MBA texts about how chapter 11 corporate bankruptcy ( versus chapter 7 individual bankruptcy) works and is a common tool to keep a business alive

This may educate . As you will read in each of his 4 corporate bankruptcies trump either restructured the debt and paid it off or gave up control of the business to creditors so they could retain earnings ... If anyone lost any money it was the latter because their management did not produce results

How many businesses have you started and run? Profitably or otherwise.

changing the subject eH?

the issue is your understanding of the significance of Trump’s corporate (not personal) use of bankruptcy law, since you don’t seem to understand how it works and refer - falsely - to trump as a “deadbeat”

I believe I have provided you with information that is factual

Chapter 11 requires a court appointed receiver whose sole interested is to represent the business and make a recommendation to the the court as to whether the business can remain viable. To that end the receiver gives haircuts to vendors, bond holders and owners alike.
That is why U asked the question. You seem to occupy a space where fantasy is truth. And yes ZI have witnessed Chapter 11 up close and personal as a high level employee that went through Chapter 11. Lots of vendors and bond holders took the haircut.

PS: I am not saying that Chapter 11 is a bad thing per se. It can save people’s jobs. But I am saying that habitual users are stiffing their debtors. There is no question about that.

While I doubt that happens, what you fail to grasp is that does not include Ted Cruz in the solid conservative category anymore, but continue to help the other side.

Well that is where we disagree. Sen Cruz has been far more a solid conservative than Trump and many that are currently in office.

You're delusional if you still think he is a solid conservative from how reality played out in this primary.

You never answered my question as well. If you don't trust Free Republic, why are you still here???

Once again, the only logical conclusion is to start trouble here and in reality, help the other side.

Why am I still here? Simple, there are enough conservatives on this site. Though I must admit, there are fewer of us now than back in the early 2000’s.

So responding to someone’s post calling for attacking conservatives in office is, in your opinion, “starting trouble”?

Yes, you are starting trouble because you don't trust the wisdom of Freepers. Many here do not believe that Cruz is a solid conservative anymore with how the reality of the primary played out.

Yet, you continue to push the notion against what many believe here. You don't trust us, that is fine, you are the one that admitted that but to continue on with your babble is nothing more than causing trouble AND HELPING the other side.

FWIW, I go back to lurking here since 1998. I even found my old ID but it has too much personal info in my ID to use it these days.

As for not trusting Freepers, I will remind you that there was a large contingent of pro-Romney Freepers during the last elections and during this cycle, several were Jeb supporters. And your comment about many not believing that Cruz is a solid conservative only goes to provide reason behind my position. But more to the point, I dont let anyone else make up my mind for me.

I always have and always will push for conservatism. But you are correct, that does appear to be against what many here now believe. Shame, because it did not used to be that way.

So because I hold a different opinion, I am no longer to be heard? I am to be silenced and censored because you can’t stand to hear a different opinion? My, what a fragile world you live in.

Pointing out Trump’s past is not helping the other side. It is keeping him accountable to the promises he made to conservatives. Trump has a liberal / leftist history. My experiences tell me that supporting such candidates who have only recently found conservative positions is fraught with disappointment.

The bolded part is where you are spreading the same lies the leftists, GOPe and Cruz spread about Trump. I sent you links that come from the good people of FR itself that debunks those lies but obviously are content to continue to spread them.

Why do you think Cruz got the nickname, Lyin' Ted? Since you don't trust the good people at Free Republic, is why you don't understand the reality of what really happened. That's your fault, not ours.

Once again, you are just trying to start trouble here and in that are helping the other side.

Once again you refuse to see what is right in front of you so I will make it clear again:

History of Trump’s leftist views:

Supports universal healthcare - http://www.breitbart.com/big-government/2015/09/28/trump-pushes-single-payer-healthcare-tax-increase-on-wealthy/

Has previously supported the assault weapons ban - now that he is running as a conservative, he changes his tune: http://www.politico.com/blogs/2016-gop-primary-live-updates-and-results/2016/03/donald-trump-assault-weapon-ban-220238

Has said that he is pro-choice: https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/04/03/donald-trumps-ever-shifting-positions-on-abortion/

Has hired illegal immigrants to build trump towers, work at his club in Florida and his companies have tried to import over a thousand workers since 2000: http://www.nationalreview.com/article/431933/donald-trump-foreign-workers-american-workers-arent-good-enough

As recently as Sept 2015 Trump supported accepting Syrian refugees: http://time.com/4249568/donald-trump-flip-flops-issues/

Those positions are very much liberal / leftist.

I have no problems with Cruz as a senator.

Cornyn needs to go! He is McCannell's lapdog!
