As if the election results weren't enough proof that Donald Trump absolutely dominated Appalachia, this map offers a pretty good picture of just how widespread the presumptive GOP nominee's support is in the region:

That map graphic is so interesting. I can’t recall if Trump’s mother was Scotch or Irish, but both groups settled in Appalachia. Here in E. TN their heritage is very rich, and they are some good, tough people. It’s no surprise they favor Trump.

We don’t elect presidents based upon geography.
We elected presidents based on electoral college votes, which is based upon population.
You need 270 to win.
Dem states have the most electoral college votes. For example, California has 55 electoral college votes. New York has 29. Illinois has 20.
West Virginia, Tennessee and Kentucky combines only has 24.
Donald Trump HAS to win at least 2 blue states to become President.

Not sure if you’re counting VA, OH or FLA as blue, but I think he gets those three. PA will be in play, and if Trump lands the Keystone State then he’s the 45th president.

Wow! I’m actually in that map. Second most Southern county.
The most Southern is Macon County, Alabama. While Trump won the Republican primary there, I’ll be he loses in the general to whoever is the democrat. Macon county is the home of The Tuskegee Institute and University, and the entire county is 82.6% Black.
Macon County is the most democratic county in Alabama. Obama won 87.1 percent of Macon County’s votes in 2012.
