Former Republican presidential candidate Ted Cruz returned to his job in the U.S. Senate on Tuesday with a warning to Washington that the turbulent primary race was a wake-up call.
"All across this country people are hungry for change. This election cycle should be a wake-up call to Washington, D.C.," the senator from Texas said outside his office. "The frustration and volcanic anger with Washington was echoed throughout this election."
Presumptive Republican nominee Donald Trump and Democratic U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders have upended expectations in their respective presidential campaigns, tapping into voter anger at establishment politicians in Washington. Cruz, a favorite of the conservative Tea Party movement, also tried to position himself as an outsider.
However, he dropped out of the Republican race a week ago after a crushing loss in Indiana and a brutal campaign in which Trump attacked Cruz's wife and father and constantly derided the senator as "Lyin' Ted."
Cruz ruled out a third-party candidacy, and said the democratic process had run its course............
Cruz may be hoping to put his conservative imprint on the party's July 18-21 national convention in Cleveland.
On Monday, he said he would not release delegates he had won in Kansas, Oklahoma and Texas, according to news reports.

Being a ‘maverick’ or independent original is one thing. That’s how I used to see people like Cruz and Rand Paul. I was very proud of him then, especially when he called out Mitch McConnell as a two faced liar. But being a ‘stick in the mud’ or debilitating wrench in the cogs of your political party is not productive.
Cruz is creating new enemies in both the GOPe and the Trump wings of the party. Not smart. Better that he keep a lower profile for the remainder of the campaign. Cruz should think about how angry the republicans were at Chris Christie in 2012. Many blamed Christie for Romney’s slide in popularity. Some remain angry at Christie to this day, and want nothing to do with him.
Try reading the article for once. Cruz is telling the DC crowd that the voters are very angry with typical DC politics. This feeds into Trump’s support, since Hillary IS the prototype of DC politics. I swear, the knee-jerk Trump Reactionaries are getting worse than the knee-jerk hate spewed by Progressives.
I wonder. For instance, the transgender thing should not be at a federal level. That's part of the current problem, every single social issue has gone national. It's the equivalent of legislation without representation because once it goes to the federal level, the people in the states are drowned out.
I'm a potential Trump delegate and if I do get the opportunity to go, anything Cruz or a Cruz delegate suggests will get an immediate No from me. It is not their show.
“All across this country people are hungry for change.”
He is finally figuring it out — I hope.
So when is he going to endorse Trump and campaign for him against Hillary?
I have noticed the the wise pundits are saying that this anger is crude, is another form of racism, and only applies to a segment of the population that has a tendency for fascism, i.e. are concerned about the survival of America.
They always express this sentiment with a pained expression on their faces as an indication of the profound sorrow they feel deep inside.
Enough with the hatred. He lost. Unreal that people showed more hatred for this guy than the one imbecile in the White Hut who destroyed the country in 8 years.
Priorities.
Let him channel whatever anger he has for Democrats.
Then we can talk.
Yes, he is.
With apologies to Monty Python...
Ah, but Cruz is just pinin’ for the fjords!
It’s not pinin’! ‘E’s passed on! His candidacy is no more! It has ceased to be! It’s expired and gone to meet it’s maker! It’s a stiff! Bereft of life, it rests in peace! If you hadn’t nailed it to the perch it’d be pushing up the daisies! It’s metabolic processes are now ‘istory! It’s off the twig! It’s kicked the bucket, shuffled off it’s mortal coil, run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible!! THIS IS AN EX-candidate!!
And mess up their narrative? Are you daft? lolol /sarc
He just needs to really understand that this time right now is not his. Whatever he’s said and however he’s conducted his campaign up to now I’ll chalk up to rightful exuberance and indignation against the establishment (at first) and then against our real preference for change (later). Zeal and a conviction of his right.
Unfortunately, the majority of pissed off Americans wanted someone from totally outside the political establishment that speaks their language. It is up to Mr. Trump to live up to that concurrence and expectation.
Ted is young enough and strong enough and persistent enough to recover. He need only get back to work and become a real force for substantive anti-political establishment change and help it willingly. What the future holds for him depends on how he conducts himself in the coming days, weeks and months.
Trump folks still whining for delegates even when he is running unopposed with 400+ remaining and he only needs 100 more. Do the Trump folks never stop with the inanities?
Why is he still holding onto the delegates?
YES Americans are angry, deep cold anger, and they are letting people like SENATOR Cruz know this along with the rest of the government...
We are angry because we have been lied to, used, stomped on, called names, treated like idiots and half wits...
We are showing just how angry we are, we are not falling for the Senator’s games or anyone else’s....
GO.TRUMP.GO!!! ALL THE WAY TO THE OVAL OFFICE!!!
Have you accepted that Cruz LOST? Are you supporting Trump or Clinton?
What hatred? Hatred isn’t wishing this showboat would go to work. And why don’t you remind him that he lost? He doesn’t seem to know that.
” the voters are very angry with typical DC politics.”
Yet, Cruz continues practicing those politics.
Yes, in part.
But by pretending to be the solution to the anger he misrepresents himself and further deceives America.
Cruz is completely and totally owned; therefore, he is in no position to address the problems that make the population angry.
So while he identifies an ongoing problem, he has steadfastly fought the solutions.
