One of the nations top traffic safety organizations is issuing an urgent warning about driving while high. AAA says that in some states that have legalized marijuana, fatal accidents involving drivers whove consumed pot are on the rise.

Ya. Unfortunately we are stuck with it. I live in CO and everything you say is true.
It seems a lot of FR pot heads have come out of the woodwork.
Certainly you are aware of the study funded by the Fed Gov on Cannabis-related vehicular accidents.
What, no?
Maybe that is because it was immediately buried, because it arrived at the incorrect conclusion.
It found that people with ONLY marijuana in their system had a rate of vehicular accidents far lower than people who had ONLY alcohol in their systems.
Maybe because pot makes you want to drive slow, and alcohol makes you want to drive fast, I dunno.
You're doing it wrong!
I kid, but for real: If you eat mangoes an hour before ingesting pot, it will temporarily weaken the brain-blood barrier and get more of the active ingredients to the receptors in your brain.
This is caused by the terpene Myrcene.
Of course, Myrcene is already present in cannabis, but at different levels, and a strain with a ton of THC and no Myrcene will not get you as high as a strain with less THC but more myrcene.
Please note that there is a complicated interplay between many of the terpenes in cannabis. Some are antagonistic to one another, and some are the opposite.
Personally, I can't wait for stoners to invent a strain of pot with ZERO THC. I am more a fan of the various terpenes than anything else.
I’m told that testing a driver for pot is far more problematic than alcohol. How do they confirm these stats?
Actually “wasted”is a perfect word. “Wasted on the way....” The friend was in a drug induced coma for 10 years. The guy was brilliant at math could have been an engineer or a scientist. Instead, he became a dealer.
Interestingly, AAA has written about the current flawed THC tests used by law enforcement and recommends that current DUI laws in Washington, Colorado, Montana, Ohio, and Pennsylvania be scrapped since the metabolites stay in one's system for weeks and may not be a direct cause of accidents.
Undoubtedly. Just like so many drivers on the road today, they are slow, plodding, and dangerous. People get frustrated, and THEY get in accidents accordingly.
Grew up in the generation. Seen lots of pot smoking driving. Mostly, its hilarious when seen from the outside. Munchies are the only reason you would WANT to get in a car when stoned. A couch, or nice comfy chair, music, or a good TV show, or a nice happy mate are overwhelming reasons to stay just where you are.
Unlike Alchol, where you have to deal with belligerence, meanness, loss of motor control, all very different, and very dangerous.
“Prove it. I live in CO. According to this, we should be seeing pot related fatal accidents on the regular. The facts show otherwise. This is BS propaganda.”
In related news, 100% of fatal accidents are oxygen-related.
And the two don’t mix — slow to react, high on pot and frustrated and angry.
I was thinking bad weather might be a problem. Sometimes during winter, my drive into work is “white knuckle” all the way. It would be nice to be calmer and not care but I doubt that that would be a good idea if the guy in front of me spins out and I need to react quickly.
And there is a side benefit, too for the government — instead of the natives being restless, they are passive and calm and easy to manipulate in their drug induced stupor. And as long as they are given their Doritos and fried Pork Rinds, the pot smokers are very happy and will continue to vote for you. :)
You can’t be high and be frustrated and angry, being a depressant, it calms you down.
I too have white knuckled too many times, and I guarantee that someone high will not drive in those conditions, or if dire, will take back roads, off the main highway. Seen it happen too many times.
Pot smokers tend to be contemplative, and not reactionary, they do not, as the saying says, toke up and tune out, exactly the opposite. The hippies of height Ashbury days were very conservative usually, the liberals of the group always were, and always will be. Most from that time are todays conservative IMO.
Yes what?
How many of these fatal collisions were the fault of those allegedly high? Where are the statistics and why were they left out of this?
And the answer is...... YES!
In a sober world, what does this mean?
I disagree. Many people will drive whether they are high or not. If they have to get somewhere, being high will not stop them.
So who would they vote for? — A Democrat who is supports drug use or a Conservative (in all other areas) who is against pot use? Since pot and drugs are so important, I suggest that they would give in and vote Democrat. BTW, isn't Soros for unrestricted drug use?
Paragraph #1: All I am suggesting is that if you double the “legal” intoxicants available to people, you’ll increase the number of accidents simply because people will drive while intoxicated.
Paragraph #2: And that the fact that pot is legal in Colorado, people might move here permnantly or visit on vacation. And refer paragraph #1 above.
Paragraph #1 + Paragraph #2 = more accidents.
My suggestion would be; if you are using either product, DON’T DRIVE AT ALL.
That includes a lot of other mind altering products.
Glass is half full: he is a libertarian at heart and just wants everyone to be able to choose for themselves.
Glass is half empty: he sees allowing drug use as a way to quell and subdue the masses so that authoritarian rule is easier to implement and to maintain.
Total gibberish. You have evaded the legitimate question 3 times now.
One more time.
When there are serious and or fatal collisions there are formal investigations to determine the cause and who was at fault.
For the 3rd time, where are these vital statistics?
Not total gibberish, very simple.
If you increase the number of ways for people to intoxicate themselves, you increase the likelihood of accidents.
Do you claim that this statement is false?
