African Americans are voting for him. They sometimes take a back seat and don’t show their cards (mixed metaphors are OK after two Diet Cokes). They don’t want to seem competitive with the illegals but they know they stand to benefit if the invasion is slowed or stopped. Other reasons too, of course.
