This morning my pain was tolerable after a Tumeric capsule, but as usual there was a little swelling. So, I thought and thought. **ouch** ;-)
That's when I realized if I have 2 glasses of red wine the swelling goes down. It seems that grapes and berries have high resveratrol levels. Researchers have found that resveratrol blocks the activation of the COX-2 enzyme, the real culprit in igniting inflammation and pain in the body.
I found a resveratrol supplement and I'm taking Tumeric and resveratrol in low dosages..to start. With the one small dose of resveratrol I can feel a decrease in swelling.
This is new to me, but I realize other may know about this.
Thanks lysie. Maybe I will have to have a glass of wine tonight. I do have some friends who swear by tart cherry juice. Even if it helps alittle, I’m happy. Thanks
WOW thanks for the info about Resveratrol.
Do we have a homeopathic / health info thread?
Coincidentally...the NYT ran an article on wine as a pain-killer, but not in the detail you provided.
Seems this woman permanently damaged her (I think) rotator cuff (cant remember exactly) .... she spent a day painting bookshelves, and the repetitive motion caused the damage.
She said she was in tough shape....constant pain, couldn’t raise her arm, etc etc etc.
The ONLY thing that helped was a glass of wine.
The article dealt w/ the nation’s unstinting use of opinoid drugs for pain.
