Senator Ted Cruzs supporters are mounting an effort to seize control of the Republican platform and the rules governing the partys July convention, the first indication that Mr. Cruz will not simply hand his delegates over to Donald J. Trump.
In an email sent Sunday to pro-Cruz convention delegates, a top aide to the Texas senator wrote that it was still possible to advance a conservative agenda at the convention.
To do that, it is imperative that we fill the Rules and Platform Committees with strong conservative voices like yours, wrote Ken Cuccinelli, who was the campaigns former delegate wrangler and a former attorney general of Virginia. That means you need to come to the national convention and support others in coming, too!
Mr. Cruz is planning a Monday evening conference call where, as Mr. Cuccinelli writes, Mr. Cruzs former officials plan to discuss what we can do at the convention to protect against liberal changes to our platform, and how we can right the wrongs in the rules from 2012!

Yes, he must!
Let me guess:
New rule. The nominee can only be someone who suspended their campaign on May 3rd. No other delegates shall be counted.

2. If Cruz & Co. REALLY want to “advance a conservative agenda at the convention” then I’d suggest getting together with the nominee, face-to-face, and discussing a few issues that you consider most important. Further, I’d suggest that it’d help a LOT if Cruz indicated that he was supporting Trump. Otherwise, all that this amounts to is a bunch of sour grapes.
They are trying to right the wrongs of the 2012 convention. Romney took things to the left.
if true, they should be shown the door
That’s a lie, as Cherie Blair once famously said.
No, we would not support Trump if he ran on Bernie or Hillary’s platform. But we do not trust weasel Cruz who instead of going back to work has refused to let go of his quixotic and ludicrous attempt to become president. In between swanning around the Kentucky Derby, of course.
The platform has become basically a wish list to placate the base that the GOPe ignores once the election is over.
‘I know that many of you would vote for Trump even if he ran on Bernie Sanders’ platform’
Clueless.
“Screw the platform. But what happens when they control the Rules?”
Excellent question.

Given Cruz’s hysterical anti-Trump “press conference” it seems the only thin on the Cruz agenda right now is damaging Trump and throwing the race to Hillary. Therefore, you can bet Cruz’s delegates will be pushing for a divisive platform fight on all the usual red meat issues like abortion.
Cruz seems determined to lose every vestige of respect he every had.
Vote Trump 2016
doesn’t he have delegates which means he has some leverage? Maybe he is using his leverage to put in some points he believes in. Right now I do not feel threatened by this.
Has Cruz made it back to DC to take on his Senate roll?
He’s been gone but still getting paid I’m sure.
Trump is running on closing the borders, fiscal responsibility, energy independence, school choice and making America great again. Cruz is pro TPP, quiet about amnesty bought by the pro amnesty ppl
How everyone, including David Horowitz and Rush say trump is not conservative is a complete mystery
As a conservative, I don’t want the platform to be liberalized. But Trump has won this fair and square, so Cruz shouldn’t try anything to change that.
I hate lying Ted Cruz!
