I am pretty sure that’s not how they work.

I know that when I am trying to get into my cel phone there are times I have to try three or four times. I am sure my fingers will be sweating a little more if I was pulling out a handgun.

Fingerprint readers are unreliable. Especially for me. I sat in the personnel office at STRATCOM with a very experienced operator and good equipment to get my fingerprints for a CAC card. It took over 40 minutes. Last month, I screwed up and locked out my CAC. The nearby Army National Guard office has a personnel office with a DEERS terminal. It took 25 minutes and lots of screwing around to get the required 80% match of my fingerprint to unlock the card.

I tried the fingerprint reader on my Galaxy S6 as a means of securing the phone. Bad idea. Fortunately, they insist on providing a password as backup. I needed it. The fingerprint reader approach is once again disabled on my phone.

There is no way I would accept that kind of technology as barrier to use of my property (firearm). I'm sticking with my old, reliable technology. It's safe in my hands and works when I need it without a defective technology barrier that would certainly get me killed.
