In response to your question, I decided to look it up to get the exact number lest I misquote from memory (I had read an article in the past that made it sound a lot worse, but I might have been reading some number that bundles crap he hocks), but realized I have provided misinformation. The show is free if you catch it at 9pm est. Otherwise, you pay 7.99 a month to get full access to Levin's episodes. Presumably, if you pay 7.99 a month, you also don't have to watch commercials during the live-show at 9pm.
No, I can't see a normal person liking Levin enough to actually pay it, or to catch his show every night after already listening to him on his radio show. But it is not as bad as I remembered.
That’s still pretty bad for a start-up. If you’re subscribing, you want to think you’re getting WAY more than that. Is that internet TV and the daily radio also?
It might work for current fans (those that are left), but not giving a free grace period for new listeners and viewers to tune in and get hooked is, in my ever-humble opinion, a big mistake.
