....Obama said Saturday that the country is "a better place today" than when he graduated from college...
He said the country "also happens to be better off than when I took office, but that's a longer story."
The line drew cheers and applause. "That's a different discussion for another speech," Obama said.

...and suicides are up. Great job, Obama.
Delusional.
Interesting picture.
There were a number of terms that suddenly disappeared from the media in Jan 2009. “Homeless problem” was one of them.
Another was “prosperity for Wall $treet but not Main Street”
Obama needs to be shown the door... The entry door to a mental hospital
“””Obama told the graduates to be confident and embrace being African-American and all that it entails, including our particular awareness of injustice and unfairness and struggle. “””
That’s pretty funny coming from a WHITE guy. Oh wait, he completely forgets that his mother and all his US relatives and ancestors were white. He only embraces and relates to his Kenyan muslim father who he never met.
Not even close. We got out of college to great hopes of career and happiness. No graduate can say that now. Now even the community organizer is likely to get killed in Chicago. The only advantage for him if that he would have less chance of contracting AIDS now than at the time.
I'm sure they've blamed it on lack of funding from bad Republicans instead of a commander in chief who is gutting this nation's economy by regulations and taxes.
He smoked a big fat one before he gave this speech. Dam!
We had to travel to an appointment in north Austin a few days ago and were amazed at how many beggars there were on both sides of major intersections. Austin is looking just as trashy as every other city that is infested by liberals and becomes a magnet for dope heads and bums.
I am sure there will be the usual speaking fees and book deals as well.
I’d say the jury is out on whether the Obamas will remain together for more than five years after leaving the White House, though. I don’t sense a lot of warmth between the two of them.
And if you could search my posts from long ago, you would see that I predicted that The Clintons would stay together because Hillary was interested in her own run for the WH. That was probably what saved Bill Clinton’ presidency.
What criteria is he using?
Whatever makes him look good. I don't think he was 100% serious or particularly thoughtful. He was just trying to support his public image.
I suppose Americans have more and cooler stuff than we did 35 years ago, and if you're talking to an African-American audience having an African-American president might be taken as progress, but I wouldn't overthink this.
In terms of the economy and foreign policy Carter left us in a bad place and Obama (and Bush) have done the same, however one might want to tweak things to make one or the other look better or worse.
For the rest of us? (Particularly for the many persons of color who voted for him.) Mostly not.
True, many FReepers were predicting instant doom for the Clinton marriage shortly after leaving the WH.
I’d guess the Obamas will be similar, because even if it’s only an illusory “marriage” the MSM loves to write about them.
OBAMA: US IN ‘BETTER PLACE’ THAN WHEN HE GRADUATED COLLEGE
OBAMA: US IN ‘BITTER PLACE’ THAN WHEN HE GRADUATED COLLEGE
Tthere, I fixed it.
for HIM and Michelle, yes, this probably holds true
for America... not so much
Which college and what were your grades, 0bunghole?
He came into office and instituted not what the people, or the economy needed, but what HE wanted and needed. That’s why he thinks he did such a great job.
All of his thuggish, commie upbringing taught him the things that he thought would put America “in her place”, and that was his entire meme for taking office.
The people never mattered. The ones he could fool were just “votes” to him, the rest - who didn’t vote for him, became instant enemies.
He’s proud of himself alright, but in the same sense that a baby is proud to show you what he found in his own messy diaper.
Me too. I can’t even say what I think about this person without getting banned for life.
Bronco Bama has apparently had a complete break with reality.
Then what the hell have you been complaining about all these years?
