It would be much more helpful if they had some breakdown on who these 8 million are. Young or old? Working poor or unemployed? Native or immigrant? Single? Married? How many are children?

Maybe they should eat on TV trays.

Food insecurity is variously defined as experiencing hunger, inability to secure enough food of sufficient quality and quantity to enable good health and participation in society, and cutting down on food due to financial necessity.

It's always interesting how far down they define starvation. In the US one of the looser definition includes limitations of food selection, so if you're eating rice and beans for three days at the end of the month you are counted as "food insecure" which the press will immediately promote to starving to death.

If you have the misfortune of listening to United States radio Public Service Announcements (required to air in exchange for band usage), the United States supposedly has a similar percentage of starving children, despite being told we have an Obesity Epidemic.

If you go to bed hungry in a modern welfare state, something is seriously wrong, either with you, or the people who are supposed to have you in their care.

I’m ashamed to say I don’t know the numbers for America. I’m too exhausted in my life to do anything more than hope like heck its better than one in five. Twenty percent. Crud. England heal thyself.

The Obesity Epidemic is only for the Bosses. The Fat Cat Usurpers who feed off the labors of the Starving Proletariat literally grow fat.

This is, literally, what democrats and college students have been taught to believe.

My solution to this groupthink is unacceptable...

This is completely bogus.

In 2009, America's new First Lady Michelle Obama began a national campaign to combat child obesity.

What important fact was never discussed?

At least 80% of obese children come from poor or lower middle class families!

If that's true in the “heartless” USA, it's also true in the UK welfare state.

I’m reminded of a study done years ago in a nearby county. People were starving! This was determined by comparing cash income to food stamp usage. Most people were farmers and had large kitchen gardens and livestock, supplemented with hunting and fishing. They had no use for food stamps.

There is a strong correlation between hungry children and parents who use drugs.

If that is the case then somehow you have been filtered out of the “this is the voter type we want” category which gets very easy access to all the support entitlements. Perhaps it is your race (maybe lily white?), your family size (not breeding any more liberals), religion, or whatever. Whatever the reason, you fell through the cracks - intentionally or not. You ceased to become the target demographic.

Get a crockpot & a big bag of dried beans. Wash beans, put
in crockpot with lots of water. Plug in. Turn on & leave
home or get busy at home. Meantime, beans cook & by supper;
they’re done. - Put a little stone ground cornmeal in a
bowl, add baking powder, a little salt, a pinch of baking
soda IF using buttermile, a beaten egg, enough buttermilk
to make a thick batter. Stir. Cook in oven or fry on top of
stove. - Beans & Cornbread for supper. - Bake several
potatoes at once in a regular oven. Butter some, refrigerate
a few for later. - Alternate types of dried beans for
variety. The leftover potatoes can be easily peeled &
fried up to serve with bacon & eggs for breakfast. - Eat
a whole orange instead of drinking big glasses of orange
juice (expensive & a sugar shock to the system). - I
finally gave up brewing coffee & got myself a big jar of
Folgers instant coffee. I’m in my 70th year; and the
brewed is too messy. - Kids are too picky about what they
eat these days. - Until Moochelle gets shed of her big
butt; kids aren’t going to pay any attention to what she
says. - I can’t go the “vegetarian” deal; so I have to
have a little bit of meat a few times a week.

Food insecurity is the new term that the begging and social manipulating crowds have come up with to increase their relevance.

There is no longer hunger, so now not having what is deemed a sufficient amount of food at home is the new drama.

Spending money from the state on other than meeting basic needs then coming back to the state for more because you can’t meet your basic needs. Oh, and it is your and my fault too that they are in this situation.

This is the Guardian.

Take with a huge pinch of salt (pardon the pun). The UK is NOT some nation where millions go hungry, I can assure you.
