A STRING QUARTET + 1

BRAHMS: QUINTET IN G, OP. 111, ADAGIO

This the quiet side of Brahms and a bit contemplative. The passion emerges in the central panel, and at the transition to the opening material, Brahms writes a short passage for gypsy viola. (Writing for gypsy violin would have been too hackneyed for him.) It ends as it began.
