On Fridays Breitbart News Daily, SiriusXM host Stephen K. Bannon asked Donald Trump about the appointment of his business associate Steven Mnuchin as campaign finance chairman.
The move has been criticized because of Mnuchins long tenure with Goldman Sachsthe financial giant seen as a Wall Street villain by the populist constituency that propelled Trump to victory in the GOP primary. In fact, during the Republican primary, Senator Ted Cruz was criticized because his wife Heidi worked for the company.
Some people are saying, Hes selling out to Wall Street already; hes gonna have all kinds of favors hes going to owe Wall Street, Bannon noted.
Well, I needed somebody smart, and hes very smart, as you know, Trump said of Mnuchin. Hes done some amazing deals. I actually did a deal with him in Hawaii; I built a hotel with him in Hawaii. Hes great. Hes a good guy. Hes a solid guy, as you know. And you know, the family is a wonderful family.
Trump said he was not selling out anything in terms of policy by bringing Mnuchin on board his campaign team, insisting he would keep it more or less the same.
Hes raising money for the party, he said about Mnuchins role, adding:
And Im gonna be putting up a lot of money. So this is money thats going to the Republican National Committee. I think we could raise a billion dollars, but the Democrats are gonna have two billion dollars. And to raise a billion dollars for the party, you need somebody good.
I think hes going to do a great jobbut, again, Im going to be spending a tremendous amount of money, and I expect to, Trump said.

At least he responded directly to the claim, instead of ignoring it like all the others would’ve.
Yes, indeed. Clarity.
It ain’t good, he should have brought in someone else.
Yes and without hesitation.
He knows what needs to be done and has the commonsense to do it.
Eh, as long as he raises the RNC from the ash heap i am good with it.
He also raided the Koch organization earlier and we all know what the brothers think of his stand on, well, having actual borders...
I have no problem with people with high-level experience coming on board. Facts are, Goldman is the top of heap when it comes to finance and a lot of international dealings. People that have worked there can and should be a great resource. I do have a problem with the hypocrisy that anyone else with a single tie to Goldman, to the RNC or any other organization automatically taints them.
You know what? After that quick turnaround on the delegate theft situation which Manafort achieved, I trust Trump's judgement.
the media is looking at those figures, one billion for Trump and 2 billion for Hitlery and smacking their wallets!
You might think of Goldmsn Sacks as the devil, but they have a lot of really smart people working there, otherwise they would not be so successful. If you had followed their investment advice over the last two decades, you'd probably be a millionaire several times over.
You probably hate the IRS too. But if you ever get audited, I bet you are going to want to hire someone who did audits for the IRS for dozens of years to be your representative for that audit.
Frankly if this guy is smart and understands the ins and outs of investment banking from the inside, then he is clearly the guy you want on your team.
I'm not a Trump fan, but I want him hiring the best people for the tasks. I don't care where they came from.
Things like this make me want to dig up all the posts condeming Ted because his his wife worked there...
The truth is that I don’t have the time. It would take weeks.
you want him to get Jamie the cashier at Wal-Mart??
Can someone tell me why Goldman Sachs is a villain ? Did you know that those banks had no fault in the financial collapse— zero. The collapse was 100% the fault of government guaranteed mortgages made to non credit worthy that were never paid back. Everyone that owned that crap loan had a government guaranty!!!You wouldn’t buy a government guaranteed mortgage secured by real estate AND the government guaranty and 10% secured by AIG PMI insurance? They were traded and sold which was perfectly legal. The banks did nothing to cause the collapse. The propaganda “fall guy “ was the banks. Note they were condemned for foreclosing delinquent loans they got stuck with. The entire premise of “Dodd Frank” was based on a lie but then so much government policy is based on a lie, for Example “global Warming”. I just see these banks as false targets of communists that don’t like profits.
We need to bring in fresh money.
Trump’s positions on saving American jobs and improving/protecting American companies allows the RNC to tap it into a new type of donor, one that has their financial interest here in America.
Could take money from Democrats. If we can swing a percentage of Dem $ to Repub $ it could change the races. Try it.
Like the $45M for the primary, of which, $37M is a loan to pay back yourself.. net of $8M... or 0.1% of your net worth. This means that an average supporter giving you $100 is proportionally giving the same as Trump.
Don't get me wrong, I understand, he's smart, he shouldn't have to finance the whole thing, spend less that Cruz... it get it.... but, I am curious as to what "A LOT" means.
not even remotely similar.
Dude seriously...give it a rest.
Yep.
NOW Golden Sachs is GOLDEN.
(The hypocrisy is strong with FR trumpers)
In Russia, if you had anything to do with government or politics, you dealt with the KGB, because that organization has monopoly on it and that’s how their system was/is organized.
In the USA, if you have anything to do with large sums of money, you deal with Goldman Sachs, because that organization has a monopoly on it and that’s how their system was/is organized.
