Iranian commander threatens to close Strait of Hormuz to US

The remarks by the acting commander of the Guard also follow those of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei who on Monday criticized US activities in the Persian Gulf. Its unclear whether that signals any new Iranian concern over the strait or possible confrontation with the US following its nuclear deal with world powers.
The US Navys 5th Fleet, based in Bahrain, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.
In his remarks, Salami said that Americans should learn from recent historical truths, likely referring to the January capture of 10 US sailors who entered Iranian waters. The sailors were released less than a day later, though state TV aired footage of the sailors on their knees with their hands on their heads.
If the Americans and their regional allies want to pass through the Strait of Hormuz and threaten us, we will not allow any entry, Salami said, without elaborating on what he and other leaders would consider a threat.
He added: Americans cannot make safe any part of the world.

Good thing we got Obama’s nuclear deal or we would really be in trouble.

From what I have seen on Google Earth, they are in shelters dug in. Have to be earth penetrating bombs, BEFORE they get a chance to launch. Ships cannot evade in that narrow channel, so get them early. Luckily, I suspect we have drones 24/7 watching the area and would see if the muzz start pulling out missiles getting ready to fire. Radar emissions might tip off that they are setting up targeting solutions.
Problem would be if any can be fired from concealment or sheltered. Dunno about that sort of stuff, but the old Silkworm had to be outside.

Perhaps..., the Strait should be widened (on the Iranian side) through strategic placement of some "Earth Moving" ordinance?

Iran should have ceased to exist Nov 5, 1979.
But we had no president then either.

If Hillary is in the White House, he will close it.
If The Donald is in the Whitehouse, he will witness the utter destruction of his nation’s armed forces in a single day.

The Straits are 29 NM wide at the narrowest point, so they’re not exactly ‘narrow’. Additionally, the kill chain includes (after Detect and Track) Identify. That’s something they’re not very good at. Just because an adversary has a radar track on a contact, doesn’t mean it’s the right target. We have stuff you’ve never read about.

Take the New Jersey out of mothballs. Give her a nuclear propulsion and <> ammo for her main batteries. Plus a full upgrade of "avionics" and missiles. Automate as much as possible to keep crew size manageable.

We really do not know of any concessions the Iranians actually made in that agreement. There had to be something Obama got in return.

I don’t know if he got one damn thing. He’s on their side. He was able to boast and once again fool the American people about what he and Kerry had achieved. Now it’s all falling apart anyway. And I haven’t taken the time to find out why we are giving them “heavy water” I think they call it, must be something to further their race to make a bunch of nuclear bombs.

Not sure how what you did for a living in the field of microwave engineering applies. Take a look at ‘Google Earth’ again and measure those ‘narrow’ Straits (I’ve only been through them a dozen times on four different ships).
