America never had a “Civil” war. The closest thing to a “Civil” war was the war for independence.

Disclaimer: I understand what you meant but wanted to lay the grounds we MAY actually need a “Civil” war should the tide turn against people who still hold the constitution at its word.

Re “Civil War”. Yeah, you’re right. I think the one usually referred to as The Civil War is more accurately a failed war of independence. I say that from the standpoint that it was never the Confederate’s intention to rule all of the states but to simply break away and form a new nation.

In regards to other wars, e.g., the Spanish Civil War, the Russian Revolution, and the Iranian Revolution, etc., what would you say is the difference between a revolutionary war and a civil war?
