“SHOULD KNOW BETTER, ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE COLLEGE EDUMACATED”
Don’t get me started. I explain to college grads that the license plate holder on their car which states “I’m an alumni of....” is the masculine plural of the word. You are either an alumnus (masculine singular) or an alumna (feminine singular). A minor point to be sure, but reading Latin was a requirement of colleges back in the real old days.
That bugs me, too, but you can’t reason with a person who is educated far beyond his/her ability to think........................
