Cruz Preparing To Suspend Campaign This Week?
DC Whispers ^ | 05-02-2016

Posted on 05/02/2016 9:52:31 PM PDT by Kevin in California

FYI: Today the very same rumor from two different (and trusted) sources suggest Senator Ted Cruz’s campaign is currently engaged in ongoing discussions regarding the subject of suspending the campaign as early as this week should the Texas senator lose tomorrow’s Indiana primary.

Cruz isn’t stupid, though he has done some stupid things this election cycle. However, every human had done some stupid things, no matter how intelligent they are.

The problem with Cruz in this drawn out refusing to leave, to me, just shows he’s a lawyer, he thinks like a lawyer. He knew he had no shot at 1237 long before he was mathematically eliminated, so what did he do? Instead of dropping out, he decided he would act like a lawyer and go for some other way to win.... As a lawyer, this is standard practice, if you know you are going to lose the trial, you immediately begin setting the groundwork for your appeal, in hopes that you will get a more favorable outcome from a different court... This was Cruz’s whole contested convention nonsense. Only a lawyer would even think this would be a viable thing to try, especially when its pretty evident the end tally wasn’t likely to be very close even if you managed to pull off a contested convention. This is how lawyers thing, its how lawyers act...

Cruz’s actions to try to get delegates for the 2nd and third votes, I am sure generally never broke any rules, but to the typical person out in the electorate who lives their lives and understand you win or you lose, and when you lose, that it.. his actions, while within the bounds of the rules come across as slimey and underhanded. The more he did it, the more he lost support.. because it was obvious to the electorate, he wasn’t playing to win... at least not to win the way most people deal with winning and losing....

Cruz’s actions in this regard are much like Al Gore’s. Gore lost the election in 2000... and he should have conceded election night, but instead put the country through weeks of legal nonsense and dangling chads.... It didn’t change the end result, but it forever destroyed Gore as ever having another shot at the presidency, because he put himself and his party first over the good of the nation.

Nixon who the left loves to hate, if he had behaved in 1960, the way gore did in 2000, JFK would have never been president, because the dems engaged in fraud to hand JFK the presidency and Nixon knew it and under legal examination certainly could have won, but he also knew it would be detrimental to the nation... so he didn’t fight it.

Cruz has done some very serious long term damage to himself with his actions and behaviors politically. Personally I think he’s on the verge of putting his senate re-election in jeopardy, if he hasn’t already. I really don’t think he’s going to be able to be a serious contender for the presidency again, and largely that’s from his own self inflicted wounds. He’s a young man, he would have had plenty of time to try again, but his behavior in many ways this campaign I think will relegate him to rapidly out of the picture should he try to make another run later.

Cruz on Supreme Court? No way! I used to think that might be good, not anymore. Cruz is the last person I’d want to see on the Supreme Court or in any future elected or appointed position. Besides, the guy is really creepy. Did you see the picture of him trying to kiss the little girl? Bone chilling.

I don’t even think people take Kasich seriously. Dude is totally nuts.

But yeah, they both need to step down.

This has gone on long enough. To continue in this direction only serves to elect Hillary IMO.

Good post. I agree.

I think he has put his future in politics severely at risk in the past couple of months.

I also think he's going to hear that loud and clear if he loses tomorrow.

I've said this multiple times in the past couple of weeks: If his twisted strategy were actually to work: He is in danger of becoming the most hated man on the right, by the right, for a generation.

I hope he understands that, it's hard for me to believe he won't see it if tomorrow is a loss. He will want to go to plan C (as a lawyer), and come out as if he was a hero all along. If he doesn't, he may not have that opportunity again.

There was one today where on runs away - to the left. Don't know who posted it.

Saving his ass at this point most likely means kissing Trump’s ring and hoping for a seat on a bench.

He probably bet it all on winning this race after slipstreaming behind Trump, and then getting the any port in a storm support of the “Washington Cartel” for the last lap.

Trump will clinch the nomination on his own, he does he need to deal or offer Cruz anything to win. Also, a candidate can not direct or bind his delegates to another candidate, he may only release them.

I was under the impression that the SCOTUS question was asked of Trump, and that he gave an ambiguous response.

Someone, (I think Kenny) searched for Cruz’s next scheduled events and couldn’t find any.

If accurate, that lends hope to the “DC Whispers.”

He knew he was virtually eliminated after NY and the other 4 states Trump won, but nonetheless, he campaigned in Indiana, pulled and played the VP card and then went to CA on Saturday to address that same GOP group in Burlingame.

Well! That didn’t sound or look like a candidate willing to pack it in after Indiana!

Cruz should by all decent standards suspend his horrid campaign if he loses Indiana later today.

That way, “IF” he’s gracious about it, he can go a long way toward redeeming himself with voters.

He’s actually done little campaigning about himself. Every time I see him, he’s raging about Mr. Trump.
*sigh*

God bless us all.

“One can only hope.”

Neil Bush and all those he represents may be weary of this mewling debate champion. If the hand is withdrawn from the sock puppet, the sock puppet will of course collapse.

The only way Captain Ahab suspends his campaign now is if he runs out of money. The fact that he hasn’t already says to me he is valuable to someone to stay in. But his supporters may just decide that there is no use fighting Trump and to spend their money downticket, leaving him with nothing left to run on.

untrusTED is the LAST person I’d want on the SC, now.

Agreed. As Heidi’s wife, the roll over carte blanche Justice Rafael would present to globalism and banksters would be crippling for America.

“I can’t see Cruz suspending his campaign only to toss away all of the delegates shenanigans he’s labored tirelessly for ...”

I agree as for what he would do, but a cast off proxy is... nothing. He would lie there like a marionette with cut strings. Many millions have been incinerated by the GOPe trying to maintain some status quo this election. Perhaps they have run out of wealthy dupes.

The other night at Trump’s Rally, Donald said after this is over we have to remove the “Lyin’” from Ted so he can get on with his life....Donald just branded him for the campaign and I don’t think there is any great animosity on Donald’s part. He is just having fun with Ted...even though Lyin’ Ted is true. So Donald is handing out an olive branch to Cruz...let’s see if he will ever take it.

I think we'll all be relieved if he finally relents.

It's past time.

I am hoping for that Trump win tomorrow, hoping Cruz, and the donors, finally pull that rip cord. If nothing else, he needs to salvage whatever he can for his political future. It would be far better if he could swallow his pride and become the hero unifier against the Hildabeast, and I hope he chooses that better course.

...The other part thinks he will be looking to save his sorry ass if he loses tomorrow. He would still be able to say he fought the good fight, and redeem himself to a degree if he unifies behind Trump.

If he loses tomorrow, which is a near certainty, then it's the only smart play. He should emphasis his key areas agreement, re border, America-first trade and military policies, etc., and that he will now join with and defer to the voters who have made those issues their priority and also determined that Trump is the best choice to deliver on those vital matters.
