Real translation: Then where would you go to find a group of people who slavishly agree with Jim Robinson and tolerate no opposition to his god Donald Trump.
"And it's now more important than ever that we keep our internet communications channel well funded and in fighting trim!!"
Fighting trim? The freepers who once actually fought by marching on the naval observatory during Bush v Gore or occupied the corners adjacent to the Walter Reed hospital against Code Pink are long gone, disgusted by the Pajama warriors who are content with their snide comments and insults substituting for thoughtful debate. Although I have not been registered on the site for a long time I have been a lurker since 2000 and have commented through my wife. I was at the Texas Capital in 2000 in support of Bush against Gore. I posted sexual predator alert signs on lampposts outside where Bill Clinton spoke. I freeped Hillary outside her house in 2003. I poll watch against voter fraud. After action reports from protest freeps were an everyday occurrence. Now freepers pretty much sit on their asses.
No wonder that FR now has constant freepathons. Its members won't put their money where their mouths are or like obamaites want everything for free.
Freepers used to denigrate Democratic Underground for the intolerance it showed. Now FR is no better.
"Like our nation, our forum has never been more divided."
FR has brought that division upon itself, substituting insults and barbs for reasoned debate. How Democratic Party-like.
Now new sites are being created that oldtime freepers are flocking to. In 2013 I wrote a vanity titled Is Free Republic worth saving?. Sadly I'm afraid the anwer is no.
I assume this will be my final post as I expect to be banned for expressing an honest opinion
Free Republic is becoming stronger by the day.
Folks who can’t grasp reality, or can’t accept it if they can, are headed to places where they can recover.
Good for them. Good for the forum.
Tead Cruz is a fraud.
The vast majority of this forum’s participants won’t buy into one.
Who knew?
I started lurking with Abraham Lincoln but didn’t formally join FR till much later.
I understand completely. I feel the same way.
Smokin’ em out today!
Don’t opus me, bro.
Opus’s get a part 2?
Informative post...rate about a six. Opus? Not too decisive and not average....five. Wish you well.
Yawn...
Another Cartman “Screw you guys, I’m going home” post.
I tolerate opposition but at this point it's moot and only helps Hillary. Cruz cannot beat Hillary, and perhaps Trump will not, but Trump is the much, much better bet.
I would have gladly supported Cruz in 2020 or 2024 but he's wrecked that.
Off to the bat cave with Cruz.
Er, I see numbers of pro-Cruz posts on the FR everyday. The zotted freepers seem to be the ones who did serial postings of the same articles or were just constantly gratuitously insulting, as I see it. Also your “Opus” is pretty much an arrogant slam against what you apparently think are all mindless zealots and morons because they support Trump. Sorry but I’ve been through to much in life to be preached at by anyone.
I support Trump, with reservations. Cruz now appears to be another narcissist on the lines of Obama. Not that such people are anything unique amongst politicians. Still, Trump has actually built real things that can be seen. Unlike Ted who is another lifelong parasite.
See? I can oppose Cruz without slamming everyone who supports him. It is possible. It’s all just opinions after all and we all know what Clint Eastwood says about that.
Get over yourself.
We shall all be inconsolable after your departure like a bat out of this, your personal hell....
NOT!
“Free Republic is the worst form of blogsite, except for all those other blogsites that have been tried from time to time.”
— Basil Churchill (Winston’s secret lost brother)
The fact you don’t get any stupid advertising is just golden.
I'll speak for myself. I started the election cycle all in for Cruz. My wife was for Trump from day one, and I frequently accused her of simply wanting the celebrity candidate. It helps that I had learned to cook for myself over the past few years.
We would watch the debates together, start arguing, and then watch them on two different TV's, separated by a wall. Then one night, during the fifth or sixth debate, I began to notice that Cruz ALWAYS sounded like a lawyer. No matter how simple the question, the theatrics were always the same. I didn't let on to my wife that I was feeling this angst, but I found it growing, nevertheless.
Then came the rally in Chicago on a Friday night. I was very upset, not because of Trump, but because this looked a lot like Baltimore and Ferguson, where rioting had occurred months earlier. Again, it wasn't political, it was anger at all of these anti-police, anti-American demonstrations turned violent.
It wasn't unitl hour two or so, when Ted Cruz was interviewed and IMMEDIATELY called this Donald Trump's fault. I literally screamed at the TV, at MY candidate to STFU!! From that point on, I turned off to Cruz. It wasn't that I immediately embraced Trump, though I did feel he had been greatly wronged that night in Chicago. For the record, you can go back to the early Free Republic nightly caucus posts and see my oft repeated: Vote Cruz.
As I thought it through, I came to realize that if Cruz won't defend Donald Trump's 1st Amendment rights (they are still both Republicans, right?), then what made me think he would defend MY rights.
Took a week or so, but I started listening to Trump more closely. It was a humbling experience when I went, hat in hand, to Mrs. Citizen Soldier, and told her she was right. The funny thing was, it didn't take long until I was the louder voice for Trump, sometimes even embarassing her with my enthusiasm.
Now, months later, I am ALL IN for Trump! His message, especially as it relates to veterans, is spot on. That I myself am a Vietnam vet, surely contributes to that enthusiasm. It is one of the great travesties in our nation; the treatment of vets, or lack thereof. Trump, I am convinced, will give veterans the attention and honor they deserve!
So, sorry that you still cling to the Cruz campaign that is vaporizing before our eyes. You could sit back, see what develops, and then find your positive voice for change, but sounds like you have ruled that out in favor of pouting, and taking your ball, and going home. Well here, let me help you.
Well, bye....management has been very fair at FR. The owner has put up with a lot of nonsense out here. He’s tried to keep the peace between the Trump/Cruz people as best he could. Really don’t get your beef. Cruz is done. What are we supposed to do, sit here & complain about it ?
Ya lost me right after you stated that JR is an idolator. Really? That was way too low.
We will see. If Trump is the nominee, then I would vote for him over Hillary. If he becomes POTUS and fails to get anything done, then the “TRUMP CHUMPS” slogan will be all over the internet.
