Suicide rates in the United States have soared to a 30-year high, with the most striking surge among middle-aged women and white people, according to federal data released Friday.
“Of the top 10 causes of death — including cancer, strokes, heart disease — everything else went down but suicide went up,” he said. “It’s particularly striking among women, because they have traditionally had much lower suicide rates.”
For women between the ages of 45 and 64, the suicide rate jumped 63 percent in the 15-year period. It rose 43 percent for men in the same age group, according to the data.

Every month I see several “Passed away at this home” in the obits. No other info.
And when the career tanks there’s nothing to fall back on. Employers already don’t want older people and it’s easy to become superfluous in a crappy economy.
How we interpret history also changes the future.
E.g., Adm. Mahan’s 1890 book on the history of sea power led directly to the naval arms race between Germany and England that led to WW1.

The suicides must be acting-out their “white privilege”...avoiding paying reparations.

Strangely enough, during that period of time, almost no new jobs have been created in this nation.
We have 40-80 million people unable to find work.

Note that the suicide rate for white middle aged men has also gone up sharply just not quite as much as for women.
