Well Pops, you make Cruz sound like a pretty shrewd and intelligent guy, so maybe you could shed some light as to why such an intelligent fella would make a total fruitcake like Glenn Beck an integral part of his campaign,

Well, it was perplexing to me...as well

Beck is a loon and Cruz not dropping him like a anchor certainly made me evaluate Cruz as a candidate...

I guess Cruz thought Beck and all his warts brought something to the campaign...

I'm at a loss to tell you what that was...

Well Popman, I can empathize with you because I started out as a gung ho Cruz supporter myself, and even after Trump entered the race, I was proud to echo and believe in the same position as our Esteemed Founder, which was that it was 'Trump or Cruz', all the rest were are amnesty pimps!' (actual JimRob quote, and a tagline of mine), I thought that Trump-Cruz or even Cruz-Trump would be an unbeatable ticket, but Cruz made so many ill-advised decisions that I too, had to re-evaluate my support for him.

I specifically remember watching a video of Ted Cruz engaging a bunch of Code Pink protesters who had attempted to shut down one of his rallies (regarding the Iran deal) and I was impressed with how he went one-on-one with them, showing them respect (that they really didn't deserve) but eliciting respect from them in return, and I judged his skills of persuasion and debate as being significant.

But the wheels really did start to come off with the addition of Glenn Beck, and that led to even greater disappointments, and if you or anyone should doubt it, it was within the last few days I seriously posted that I thought we should all be praying for Cruz because the pressures he must be under have to be unimaginable.

This isn't the first time that conservatives have been let down by their candidate of choice, I remember Congressman Bob Bauman of Maryland who was a real conservative's conservative, he was a leading voice on the right, everything seemed to be going his way, and then he got himself arrested for sex with an underage boy, turned out he was a disgusting peter-puffer, lost his Congressional seat, his wife left him, his life went right on down the tubes, and I recall the shock, astonishment and disappointment THAT triggered.

It's unfortunate that it seems to be a tradition to elevate our candidates to near Godhood and I'll be the first to admit that some Trump supporters are just as guilty of that as any other supporters, but Trump, Cruz and any other political figures are still just mortal men, I think Ronald Reagan personified how not to let all the praise and adoration go to his head, and it didn't.

You have my respect Popman. And if you see me post things which may not be too friendly regarding Ted Cruz in the final run up to the convention, don't take it personal. I wish MANY Cruz supporters could look at things with a clear and unjaundiced eye was you obviously have.

Have a good week FRiend.
