California politicians have voted down a proposal to designate May 26 - the actor's birthday - as John Wayne Day. The idea was rejected after some said Wayne had made racist comments against blacks and Native Americans. The resolution for John Wayne Day was submitted by Assemblyman Matthew Harper, who described Wayne as the "prototypical American Hero, symbolizing such traits as self-reliance, grace under pressure, resolve and patriotism." But Harper's colleague Lorena Gonzalez said Wayne's movies showed a lot of Native Americans being killed and that they sanctioned the white occupation of the continent. Assemblyman Luis Alejo also complained that Wayne "had disturbing views towards race." The proposal was consequently voted down on Thursday, although several lawmakers, including Harper, claimed that the vote had gone in favor of "political correctness." Others also remembered Wayne's contribution to cancer research and his support for the US military. Support for 'white supremacy' The actor who became known under the stage name John Wayne was born in 1907 as Marion Mitchell Morrison and later renamed Marion Robert Morrison. Also nicknamed the "Duke," Wayne defined the quintessential cowboy on screen with his appearance of rugged masculinity and swaggering walk. His most famous movies include "The Alamo," "The Green Beret" and "True Grit," for which he received an Academy Award. However, the actor, whose film career ran from the early 1930s to 1976, was a conservative and ruffled feathers with his strong views on discrimination. "With a lot of blacks, there's quite a bit of resentment along with their dissent, and possibly rightly so… But we can't all of a sudden get down on our knees and turn everything over to the leadership of the blacks," Wayne told the magazine Playboy in a 1971 interview. "I believe in white supremacy until the blacks are educated to a point of responsibility. I don't believe in giving authority and positions of leadership and judgment to irresponsible people," he said.
WAYNE: Just this: The articulate liberal group has caused certain things in our country,
and I wonder how long the young people who read Playboy are going to allow these
things to go on. George Putnam, the Los Angeles news analyst, put it quite succinctly
when he said, “What kind of a nation is it that fails to understand that freedom of speech
and assembly are one thing, and anarchy and treason are quite another, that allows known
Communists to serve as teachers to pervert the natural loyalties and ideals of our kids,
filling them with fear and doubt and hate and down-grading patriotism and all our heroes
of the past?”
PLAYBOY: You blame all this on liberals?
WAYNE: Well, the liberals seem to be quite willing to have Communists teach their kids
in school. The Communists realized that they couldn’t start a workers’ revolution in the
United States, since the workers were too affluent and too progressive. So the Commies
decided on the next-best thing, and that’s to start on the schools, start on the kids. And
they’ve managed to do it. They’re already in colleges; now they’re getting into high
schools. I wouldn’t mind if they taught my children the basic philosophy of communism,
in theory and how it works in actuality. But I don’t want somebody like Angela Davis
inculcating an enemy doctrine in my kids’ minds.
PLAYBOY: Angela Davis claims that those who would revoke her teaching credentials
on ideological grounds are actually discriminating against her because she’s black. Do
you think there’s any truth in that?

In June 1966, John Wayne stopped by to visit Special Forces Operational Detachment A-323 at Camp Trai Bi, Vietnam when he was in country gathering details for his upcoming movie "The Green Berets."
He had a beer with us and visited for a while before he departed. He fit right in, he was one of us.
The allowable bounds of polite, politically correct discourse have no relationship to the truth of the utterances. This is why we will never solve the problems of inner city blacks... We can't talk about the issues and facts that matter.
You could say that about almost all the countries in Africa. You could also say it about the White House.

Well, it certainly wasn’t politically correct by todays standards but it damn sure was true.
How many California authorities such as police, sheriffs, Highway Patrol, state bureaucrats, judges, District Atorneys, prosecutors, etc., etc. are hispanic?
How many of them would work to impede, circumvent and prevent any wholesale deportation or incarceration of Hispanic lawbreakers?
How many would help?
Just look at what politicians and authorities have done so far:
San Francisco is a rogue city, universities are outlaw politically correct bureaucracies, "Sanctuary Cities" thumb their noses at laws and the US Constitution to protect illegal aliens and lawbreakers - including violent felons.
The same situation is developing throughout the nation. with Hispanics, muslims and other America haters coming into positions of authority.
What is life going to be like for Jews and Christians when the police, judges and prosecutors are militant muslims?
What will life be like for whites in jurisdictions dominated by black racists?
Or black muslim racists?
Barack Obama knew what he was doing when he inserted thousands of these haters in bureaucracies with authority over everyday Americans.
Their numbers may be relatively small right now but will grow.
And exactly what racist comments would those be?

I have to admit when there are John Wayne marathons I watch em all.....I even like the Singing Cowboy ones
This is the second article I’ve read about this. The Duke-hating, anti-American loudmouth mentioned in each article was a Mexican. I think they’re just pissed off about his movie, “The Alamo”.
Back when tv offerings were much scarcer, I watched quite a few of those old hour-long pictures he made at the beginning of his career.
