Appearing in New York to claim his sweep, Trump declared the race effectively over, calling himself the presumptive nominee. The billionaire also reiterated his criticism of the deal Cruz and Kasich have struck to split three upcoming primaries, calling it a "very weak signal." Trump also spoke dismissively of Cruz's increasingly public search for a running mate, saying the senator is "wasting his time."
In Maryland, with 64 percent of the vote in, Cruz was coming in third with 19 percent and on track to collect zero delegates. The results were less clear in Pennsylvania, where Cruzs campaign was hoping to have a significant amount of supporters among the 54 uncommitted delegates the state will send to the GOP's national convention in Cleveland.
The one place where Cruz stood a chance of winning committed delegates was Rhode Island. By cracking 10 percent statewide and in one out of two congressional districts, he was on track to score three delegates.
By the end of Tuesday night, Trump had a 390-delegate lead over Cruz, 950 to 560, according to the Associated Press. Kasich had 153.

The truth yesterday was not the Fiorini pick....it was the HUGE defeat of Cruz the night before.
Cruz is a THIRD place finisher.
Time to accept reality.
Cruz is pathetic and delusional to name his "Running Mate" the next day. The only thing sadder is Fiorina signing on as First Mate of the RMS Titanic.
Let's see - no one wants Cruz, so he recruits a "Running Mate" that received even fewer votes - smart Ted!
Fiorina was born in Texas, but pretends she’s from California, although she now resides in Virginia, whereas, Rafael “Ted” Cruz was born in Canada and represents Texas in the U.S. Senate!
And I’ll bet they forego the high taxes....... :>)
Cruz was clobbered in the South, as well.
She sounds more like H. Clinton than anyone else:
from Illinois, but transplanted to Arkansas where she learned her on-again-off-again awful southern accent, to Washington, to New York.
Third place... out of THREE.
aka, LAST PLACE
While it might be normal from those states to go Dem each cycle, I bet W wished more from those states had been excited to turn out to vote for him in 2000 to remove the moniker that he didn’t have the popular vote.
Allow me to note from the “get go” that Cruz’s contested side show went “full on” crazy a while ago. That said, presumably Fiorina was added to the “Cruz ticket” help in California. The same California where Fiorina helped high tech go hog wild with H1B visa cheap labor at the expense of voters. Why would any working class voter support Cruz because of Fiorina?
With few exceptions, Cruz has won the Beck/Romney states...those with the highest percentage of Mormon votes in the nation. Montana (7th), North Dakota (13th), Oregon (10th), and Washington (9th) remain.
Not to mention she lost at least 1 election in California.
I think she ran against Boxer and got defeated.
Or as Cruz would categorize it: He was 2 places from First, but Trump was 2 places from last place.
And that truly is an example of the manner in which he lies.
Cruz is a Canadian. He doesn’t care about America.
Lost to her by over a million votes. Granted, it’s California where Fiorina lost, but losing big time to someone left of Marx doesn’t look good on the political resume.
The Fiorina pick was awful. Your point should concern every working American.
It also calls into question Cruz’s judgement.
If he were to gain the nomination (hypothetically), it would be INSANE to pick Fiorina. She clearly will NOT bring California with her. There are other female republicans with successful campaign records who would bring the same female demographic AND bring electoral votes.
Desperation is the ONLY reason she could have been picked.
Well, I reckon that after Indiana hands him his arse on a platter, he will name his cabinet.
Or even a coronation....
What are the odds that after this campaign he renews his Canadian citizenship?
