Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump, at a Fox News-hosted town hall in Indianapolis, on Wednesday blasted rival Ted Cruzs decision to announce a running mate even though hes losing the nomination race calling it a waste of time.
The billionaire businessman responded to Cruzs campaign curveball, while also elaborating on a foreign policy speech he delivered earlier in the day, at the forum hosted by Greta Van Susteren.
I think its really a waste of time, honestly, Trump said of Cruzs decision to name former presidential candidate and ex-HP CEO Carly Fiorina as his VP pick. Of the race, Trump said, It should be over.
Cruz earlier acknowledged it was unusual to name a VP choice so early, but defended the decision. He claimed nobody is getting to 1,237 delegates, the number needed to clinch the nomination, and voters should know what [they] will get.
After Trump swept five states across the Northeast on Tuesday, the three remaining GOP candidates are looking next to Indianas primary on May 3 as a pivotal point in the race one that can show whether Trump turns his winning streak into irreversible momentum, or whether Cruz and John Kasich still have a shot at preventing him from clinching the nomination before July.
But Trump cast Cruzs ticket roll-out Wednesday as a bid to distract from bad headlines, calling it awfully early for such an announcement.
You have to first get the nomination. He has zero chance, he said.
Trump declined to go into detail about his own potential running mate choices. I have a lot of great people. I just dont like to talk about it right now, he said.

I'd say they did. "nobody getting to 1237 per Cruz is about the same as him denying the sun will rise".
Maybe that’s why Ted stays in the race. Dark forces at work.
This is example of Cruz’ character IMO. This is a guy who shuts down government through philibuster. If he can read Dr. Suess to the Senate, he can be a thorn in the Trump campaigns side until the convention. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if he doesn’t support Trump when he wins and make a scene at the convention.
+1
While States can make their own rules of delegate selection, it doesn't make their decisions right. Colorado essentially cut the voter out of the process.
Yesterday, Carly Fiorina made a speech where she said that she and Sen Cruz would return power to the citizens. Yet, Cruz recently celebrated and embraced the Colorado “victory”, talking of the voters speaking, when the Colorado delegate selection circumvented voter input.
I can't square those two statements.
And Snarly should learn to smile and not look like the executive boss from hell who goes around counting paperclips at night after the terrified employees escape from under the lazer-like beam of her beady eyes and the lizard-like extension of her neck tendons.
God, that woman is as bad as Hillary.
“Maybe thats why Ted stays in the race. Dark forces at work.”
Yes and those Dark forces are not going to rest when Trump becomes President, but will fight him and those that voted for him at every turn. Be ready.
T-bone Texan,
God reveals people to us over time, we don’t always want to accept his revelations. As time goes on, it becomes harder and harder for politicians to hide from internet warriors. A cursory look at Heidi Cruz was much more revealing than Ted, and you can’t separate the two.
It’s good that more recognize that Ted is compromised. We have such high hopes and we project those hopes on our leaders, only to be let down, again and again. Trump will not let us down.
God-willing, 2016 will be the turning point. New leaders will be inspired to step forward and serve their states and their country. We just need a few good men willing to serve from the 325,000,000.
My question is, he's going to take this to California in a couple of weeks?
California? Home of HP? Where this uh, woman, is known far and wide as a villainess who fired 30,000 - THIRTY THOUSAND people with indifference like no one has ever indifferented before, where at long last the Hewlett and Packard families had to get involved and organize a rebellion on the HP board and pay her what, $15 million bucks to just go away?
California, where Babs Boxer had, and still has all that delicious opposition research on her that she can play again, and again...
Obviously, the Cubanadian's handlers, we all know who they are, are setting the stage for a last, glorious stand... /s
“If I had the goods on someone then I’d think I’d use it for something more than being appointed First Officer of the Titanic.”
Good point. However, what else could Ted offer her? He’s already given her CASH.
“i am content to let things play out - and let all voices be heard. and the process will play out despite those that want to truncate it which is kind of anti=Trump doctrine, isnt it - ??!!”
So you are probably not happy that the other 14 dropped out already. They had supporters in the remaining states too. Everyone who started should stay in until the end, which is NOT what Cruz said, but seems to be what you are saying.
great post!
And on the next day, teddy will give a State of the Union address, have an Easter Egg roll on a staged white house lawn, then give the Thanksgiving turkey a presidential pardon.
What i am not happy with is you putting words in my mouth
Penn. ***** Trump can win Pennsylvania!
You are intelligent, the real question is not about who can carry Texas or Rhode Island in the GE. Lindsay Graham would win Texas, snort. Bernie -Biden -any D wins Rhode Island.
The Battle Ground States: Florida, Ohio, Virginia, Pennsylvania. Maybe NC or CO. Lose FL = Lost GE!
Ted Cruz lost every county & congressional district in both Virginia and Florida. He did very poorly in Ohio (13%) and less than 17% in FL & VA. Trump beat Cruz in Pennsylvania by nearly 3:1 margin.
Cruz is a losing candidate, guaranteed to lose the General Election.
Florida and Penn were closed primaries. In the GE, anyone chooses. Millions of Democrats and tens of Millions of Independents will vote for Trump across the entire nation. Trump has a real opportunity to win over purple and blue states.
Ted earns majority republican votes in low EV prairie states, plus Texas. And if these states actually held REAL elections, Trump likely would have pulled 1/3 -1/2 of the vote, plus won Colorado. Trump was polling with a 10 point lead the day prior to the CO caucus 44% - 34%.
Sorry Ted, everyone votes in the GE. no more of the .003% and .006% turnouts to hand over a victory!
Cruz attraction and appeal is limited to a marginal portion of the republican party. When the democrat / independent voter hear about his dominionized pre-ordination for potus and the Glenn Bleck association, they will vomit.
Ted will be condemned as a deranged wacko-bird. UnelecTED.
Cruz actually lost this entire race when only 22% of South Carolina (2/20/16) chose Ted. Cruz was proven to be unelectable from that moment forward. Evangelicals and Arch-conservatives in a state where people are allowed to vote chose- Donald Trump, -followed by Rubio.
It was the only way to narrow a large field in a short amount of time. No one runs out of money anymore due to the collusion with super PACs discreetly aiding campaigns.
Trump will hammer both HillBillies, and it will be a true joy to behold.
If Trump could change the media running block, she would be indicted, IMHO.
All I can think of when I see her picture is...cardboard.
Will his campaign make fake podiums, too?
Yes, and it will have fake media people pretending to be interested in what teddy has to say.
