Washington (CNN)Donald Trump on Wednesday delivered a major foreign policy speech in Washington, laying out his vision for a foreign policy that will put "America first." Trump opened his speech Wednesday vowing to "shake the rust off America's foreign policy" and said he would outline a vision for a U.S. foreign policy "that replaces randomness with purpose, ideology with strategy and chaos with peace."
He added, "My foreign policy will always put the interests of the American people and American security first." Speaking at the Mayflower Hotel as part of his campaign's efforts to cast him as a more presidential figure and appeal to Republican Party elites., he opened the speech with measured tones and relied on prepared remarks in place of the off-the-cuff style he often deploys on the campaign trail.

There no other candidate at his level. None. Not even close.
He gave a great speech and did a wonderful job contrasting himself with Obama and Hildabeast. Refreshing to hear a pro-America, anti-Islamist and pro-Christian foreign policy.
Trump opponents cry:
He’s not conservative!
He’s simplistic!
I say, he’s an American. And it’s about d**n time we had an American in the White House.
I give the speech an A+. Trump Accurately described the problems with Obama’s failed foreign policy and presented good common sense ideas.
I’m not worried about Hussein Obama, nor the Hildabeast!
I’m worried about the RINO Congress Critters and all of their offshore interests!
These people haven’t done a thing to thwart Hussein, are they going to do anything to actually right our ship?
Watching now on RSBN, and it’s amazing.
Like I knew he would, Trump has adopted a “more Presidential” style for this speech, which will make the haters heads explode because butbutbut he said he wasn’t going to change! Flopper-flipper! Oh noes!
The politicians don’t know how to give speeches, debate, campaign or set policy.
The real estate guy from NYC does it all and makes it look easy.
No wonder the neo-con artists and their open borders toadies hate him, he wants and America First policy, and they hate the very idea of putting America and its legal citizens above the interests of foreigners.
I think Trump achieved 2 things politically with this speech. He calmed those in the party that were concerned about his seriousness and their inability to get beyond his personality. I think that the speech goes a long way in potentially coverting many neverTrumpers in the party to maybeTrumpers. The 2nd thing is I think Cruz and Kasich’s last remaining argument that they can beat Hillary gets dismantled when Trump’s poll numbers against Hillary in polls starts to exceed theirs.
Weaving the values of Western civilization throughout the speech with an attack on globalism was spot-on.
He’s simpistic...
It’s not rocket science unless you are trying to trick the voters

Extexmarine,
True concerns, but it’s clear that this man is advancing the concerns of the American people, like you and me, not the Rino elites. The foreign policy talking heads on fox just noted the same. Trump will have his hands full, but he just may be the guy for this job.
Shades of “It’s morning in America” and a return to American nationalism and pride. Screw the lefties as they will despise this speech because it puts America’s interests first.
Absolutely brilliant speech.
“GREATEST FOREIGN POLICY SPEECH SINCE WASHINGTON’S FAREWELL ADDRESS.” - Coulter says
This also has a secondary benefit.
This speech is directed at the DC GOP establishment.
It undercuts a good portion of the remaining establishment support for Cruz.
Since Trump seems reasonable on these points, it makes it much easier for a good portion of the GOP intelligentsia to get behind Trump. Or at minimum, not actively oppose his candidacy.
Cruz’ high water mark of his campaign was Wisconsin. It’s been all downhill since.
The outcome has been determined - Trump will be the nominee.
