Poll: More than half say nominating process is 'rigged'

More than two-thirds of Americans want the presidential nomination processes to be changed and more than half say the systems are “rigged,” a new poll found.

The Reuters/Ipsos poll released Wednesday found that 51 percent of likely voters believe the primary system is “rigged” against some candidates.

And 71 percent say parties should pick their presidential nominees with a direct vote, instead of using delegates.

Twenty-seven percent said they did not understand how the primary process works, and 44 percent said they were unsure why delegates are involved at all.

Republican presidential front-runner Donald Trump and Democratic candidate Bernie Sanders have frequently lamented that their parties’ systems are unfair.

Nearly half of respondents said they would like all 50 states to hold their nominating contests at the same day, instead of spread out across five months.

You are correct. Trump isn’t convincing anyone, he is just stating a widely recognized (but not admitted to) fact.

Trump is a populist.

He isn’t leading people in new directions. He just states what the silent majority has been thinking (but afraid to verbalize, because...PC police).

The establishment stopped listening to The People and was treating The People like serfs they ruled over. Recipe for some sort of revolution and we see it in both parties. Ballot boxes this time or next time it may be the revolt by bullet boxes.

Your reply has absolutely nothing to do with what I posted.

Perhaps you meant it for the OP.

And to be fair, it should be proportional.

Being under investigation should automatically disqualify you

Even if the LIAR-IN-CHIEF were to prospectively pardon her, I still question if she is legally qualified to assume further office in the US Government. I am NOT a lawyer and do not play one on TV, but know a little about the law of the United States and particular when it comes to TS/SAP/SCI

Look at this, 18 US Code 107: "Concealment, Removal, or Mutilation Generally: Whoever willfully and unlawfully conceals, removes, mutilates, obliterates, or destroys, or attempts to do so, or, with intent to do so takes and carries away any record, proceeding, map, book, paper, document, or other thing, filed or deposited with any clerk or officer of any court of the United States, or in any public office, or with any judicial or public officer of the United States, shall be fined under this title or imprisoned not more than three years, or both. ... and shall forfeit his office and be disqualified from holding any office under the United States." , Jan 7, 2016

We no longer live in an era that produces "greatness" in men.

It's an unfortunate reality, but adapt we must. Technology lets us know everything about everybody, so politicians no longer have private lives. Previous presidents who were considered 'great' - were men we knew very little about on a personal level. We now deal with the nonsense that is pop culture; Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat...ad nauseum.

Social commentators have been clamoring for years about how the high and mighty have to 'identify' with the little guy...the everyday working person. They told us years ago that people vote for 'the guy they'd most like to have a beer with.' Remember (that a**hole) Obama's 'beer summit?' That's what it was all about. Old regular joe....Barack Hussein Obama, Mr. Red, White and Blue - having a brew with his buddies.

Trump has been referred to as a 'blue-collar billionaire.' I still love the guy. But that's just me.

The whole government is rigged so why not the political private clubs aka parties.

State, federal, local - all government is rigged. Believe me, I'm a state employee/worker bee (PA), and I truly believe that people that run state agencies have unchecked power. Under no circumstances to they want negative PR. They prefer, like vampires, to do their dirty work in the dark, not the light. I wouldn't give you a nickel for our governor, or any state employee, for that matter. except me, that is......

If you think about it the Republican and Democrats Parties aka business conglomeration is the epitome of corrupt corporations. These two entities posing as political parties control everything, make sure their henchmen and progeny are cared for and everyone’s pocket is lined at the expense of the country. A crime syndicate where two families share in the rape and reward. We really need to destroy the two party system.

I can see no real solution.

1Sa 8:5 And said unto him, Behold, thou art old, and thy sons walk not in thy ways: now make us a king to judge us like all the nations.

1Sa 8:6 But the thing displeased Samuel, when they said, Give us a king to judge us. And Samuel prayed unto the LORD.

1Sa 8:7 And the LORD said unto Samuel, Hearken unto the voice of the people in all that they say unto thee: for they have not rejected thee, but they have rejected Me, that I should not reign over them.

1Sa 8:18 And ye shall cry out in that day because of your king which ye shall have chosen you; and the LORD will not hear you in that day.

I’m not sure how he’s accomplished this, since his oratory skills are not what us typical for a politician,

Build a fence, lock out the Muslims, take care of veterans, repeal and replace ObamaCare. The first two being the most important.

This is, by definition, an oligarchy. It is unacceptable for our country to be run as an oligarchy.

Those private political parties receive an awful lot of taxpayer money to still be called private. Your definition is spot on, we are an Oligarchy and in times past they were at least loyal Americans, now not so much.

The Israelis went through periods of bad rulers and even into captivity. They cried out to God and were saved. Most of this nation needs to cry out to God.

Yeah, and I’ll just bet you could get two-thirds of the American people to say the Electoral College should be eliminated and the winner of the national popular vote should automatically win the presidency.

You do understand that if it was a straight vote that states like California, New York, and Texas would be the only deciding factor in elections right??

I wouldn’t say it is so much rigged but that the American people consistently nominate poor candidates.
