It took me years, but I'm handy enough with chopsticks that a Japanese lady in a sushi bar in the Lake City neighborhood asked me how long I'd lived in Japan.

I told her that I'd never been to Japan, but I had been Japanese in a previous life. She looked impressed and said, "Ah, samurai!"
