Trump and Clinton Hold Strong Leads in Pennsylvania, New Poll Shows

Donald Trump and Hillary Clinton hold double-digit leads in the April 26 primary contest of Pennsylvania, according to results from a new NBC News/Wall Street Journal/Marist poll.

In the Republican race, Trump gets support from 45 percent of likely Republican primary voters in the state — followed by Ted Cruz at 27 percent and John Kasich at 24 percent.

Trump performs the best among those who strongly support a candidate (getting support from 57 percent from that group), men (52 percent), those without a college degree (52 percent) and those in the Northeast part of the state (52 percent).

He performs the worst among college graduates (37 percent), women (39 percent), white evangelicals (40 percent — but still leading Cruz's 36 percent) and in the Philadelphia suburbs (38 percent — leading Kasich's 34 percent).

So what. The people’s vote for the candidate is worthless. The only votes that count are the votes for the delegates and they have been put on the ballot by the establishment. Trump could win by 60% and only take the minority of the delegates. Each Congressional District gets 3 delegates. There are 6 on the ballot in my district. Four are for Cruz. Several of them said they will not vote for Trump no matter what. Of the two that are leaning for Trump, their vote is not a given.

I have voted Republican or 55 years. My wife and I have manned the phone banks for the party. I have been a “runner” in several elections. We worked hard to give the House and Senate to the Republicans, but they just caved to Obama. I will no longer vote Republican if the will of the people is ignored. As Priebus said, “ . . this is a nomination for the Republican Party. If you don’t like the party, then sit down. The party is choosing a nominee.” I will follow his advise in the General Election.

Cannot locate any new CT poll but finally caught one from Rhode Island which has Trump @38%, Kasich @25% and Cruz @14%.
What a shame these “leftovers” are so selfish and delusional that they refuse to do what’s right for their country!!

That sews up 17 delegates. It is the other unbound 54 delegates that have me worried. The GOP through their puppet Ted Cruz are trying to steal as many delegates as they can.

Well Agnes, winning votes is where it is at. If a candidate cannot win the votes of the people he is not going anywhere. Cruz already disparaged the folks of New York and you can see what happened there.

Folks from Pennsylvania I spoke with didn't recall having to vote for delegates in past primary elections. Most voters know only of the candidates, and don't have a clue about delegates.

Those delegates have stated they will vote with the choice of the State on the first ballot, which will be Trump.

This may be Cruz’s waterloo - RE: the credentials committee. The head of that is John Sununu, who is a straong Kasich supporter. Could be that Cruz’s delegates won’t be seated - Just a thought.........

Could be that Sununu tries to pull a twofer. Meaning, suppose the credentials committee refuses to seat a slate like Maine’s entire delegation?

Blame Cruz for spoiling the state’s slate, but in the name of fairness disqualify all. Gee, now Trump is just short? And what a shame, with Cruz just short on the second ballot...

And that’s the problem. Since I started voting, more years ago than I like to admit ( I worked in the’72 Nixon campaign and campaigned for Goldwater in ‘64), that’s been the system...but most people don’t realize it or how they have to be aware of it to have the delegates for their candidate.
