Observe how quickly polls change. They coordinate quite nicely with events. An example is that voterless delegate selection in CO and WY boosted Trump's level of success in NY, and seems to have enhanced Trump's numbers in Tuesday's states.

Then there's Cruz's making bathroom access an issue. It does seem that Cruz is using it effectively to keep some of his more comatose supporters on board. But most voters? We're seeing through the usual social issue scare tactics and keeping our eye on the prize. That's turning things around for the US, while leaving the social issues to states.

Cruz’s problem is that his brand of conservatism doesn’t wear well outside TX.

And even the South didn’t warm up to him. It all went downhill when he lost SC.

I do agree that the “bad week for Trump” meme, based on the transgender, tax the rich and I forget what the third item was, didn’t hurt Trump, and probably helped him. And I also agree, that shows a bit more “thinking” on the part of the voters. But come the general election, which shouldn’t even be close, and millions of people will vote for whichever loser the DEM party advances.
