Both NeverWhoever groups need to be discouraged if the goal is to defeat the democrat nominee.

Ideally, that sounds right, but practically, it's a little more complicated than that.

You see, Cruz has joined with the GOPe in piling on Donald Trump and their unending campaign of character assassination against him. For God's sake, this unprincipled man played the race card against Trump, following the lead of the Media and GOPe. There's nothing sleazier and more lowdown than that. And that was just the beginning.

So don't try to place the two perspectives on equal footing, because they categorically are not.

Out of courtesy to JimRob, I'm not declaring myself "NeverCruz". But if Ted Cruz somehow manages to steal the nomination from Donald Trump (and it will be with the full assistance of the GOPe), then I'm going to have a very tough moral dilemma to face, because, unlike Donald Trump, it's abundantly clear that Ted Cruz does not deserve the GOP nomination under any circumstances.

In that eventuality, even the act of me holding my nose to vote for the unprincipled, naked opportunist that is Ted Cruz, would not be able to compensate for the fact that 1) The GOP would irreparably splinter , 2) Voter enthusiasm would be destroyed, 3) countless Trump voters would stay home (basic psychology), and 4) Hillary would win November in a landslide.

What astounds me is that, from the Cruz fanboy point of view, that is Cruz's best case scenario! And Cruz's best case scenario is the GOP convention's (and the country's) worst case scenario.

Are you starting to get the picture?

Can you simply follow Ted Cruz's strategy from here forward to its logical conclusion?

Now answer me: how, in God's name, could any conservative American want to gamble on that scenario?

God forbid.

Thus, I submit to you that both Ted Cruz and his fanatical scorched earth supporters are being disloyal to their own grassroots and party (which Cruz has shown since Chicago), not to mention being willing to sacrifice the country's future on the altar of Ted Cruz's egotism and narcissism.

So you can put me down, reasonably and logically, as as close to "NeverCruz" as humanly possible, without actually being so.

Conversely, the "NeverTrump" hysterical haters have no leg to stand on. They have long ago ceded the moral high ground. The only question is exactly how far Ted Cruz's humiliation must go before he wakes up (along with his fanboys), and how much damage will have been guaranteed at that juncture.

Ted Cruz, to quote Jim Robinson, is a traitor to the grassroots.

The Revolution fails without Trump.

Vote Trump

EXCELLENT post.

I'm not a NeverCruzer because it's not necessary to be. Who could have guessed one year ago we would be having the discussions we are? That the GOPee would have outted themselves as thoroughly as they have, that Cruz would be the weasel he is, or that I would be a Trump supporter?

We're in uncharted territory. I think I'll understand the landscape better three or six months from now...I'll wait.

And as JR said...our ancestors did some pretty knarly stuff (okay, I'm paraphrasing) to leave us this wonderful country. If I have to vote for someone I find politically, ethically and personally distasteful to save the country from Hillary, heck it could be worse
