Reckon it has anything to do with income redistribution? Most of the wealth in the south was decimated, while the north prospered like no other time in history during the reconstruction.
Even the term carpet-bagger (like your boy Ted) comes from the reconstruction, where northerners went south to become politicians because the southern men were dead, and no one had the money or the means to run against them.
And I’m telling you this as an Illinoisan (where Lincoln is considered a saint).

Actually, my point (which I’ve made several times) is that when a Republican contender reaches 1,237 delegates, he will be the nominee...it will happen prior to or at the convention...that is unless you want to troll the forum by arguing a rule change so that less than a majority wins.
