They are also helping Cruz destroy his political future. The GOPe is smiling.
He also lost $2000 playing poker as a freshman.
Seems like he had a rough freshman year, especially since his roommate hated him so much.
No kidding.
I favor Trump.
I’m simply not the screaming hypocrite about drugs that so many here are.
You can get heroin and meth and other serious drugs perfectly legally in this country, as long as it comes with a prescription.
But God forbid someone do something on his own private property that the nanny state busybodies don’t like, and all of a sudden they’re happy to pay taxes and happy to hand over as much power as the government wants.
Now you and I can’t safely drive down the street with a couple of hundred dollars in cash without being at risk of having it confiscated without due process by any officer of the law on the assumption that all cash is drug related.
Loretta Lynch, the Queen of Forfeiture, couldn’t be happier at the support for her favorite prosecutorial tactic.
I have had friends who have died of overdose, so I do know what it is like.
Their poor choices are no excuse whatsoever to put the tens of millions of fellow citizens who responsibly use these drugs - people you never see as drug users because they don’t show symptoms of addiction - in jail. Which helps no one anyway.
88000 deaths due to alcohol a year. Less than 200 due to cocaine. If these numbers mean nothing to you then you are not rationally assessing the situation.
I thought that was his mom and sister.
Cruzs perfect family
Ted snorted cocaine, and talks about it.

I tried watching that for about 30 seconds. Cruz is just disgusting. So inauthentic. I don’t even think his mother likes him.

Trump has been giddy lately. After 7 months of constant stump speeches I’m starting to see some slips by Trump. 7/11 the obvious, but it’s a nothing burger. The media tried to push it as something but it was a big yawn.
But I’ve seen him start mispronounce some. Not from not knowing the word, but just slurring it like your mouth was tired. Other things have crept in to. Just subtle stuff. You get used to a certain rhythm and style and you catch little things like that.
That is sick, every is uncomfortable.. thanks
“I have had friends who have died of overdose, so I do know what it is like.”
My BS meter just went off.
How can you advocate for drug use after seeing your friends die from it?
How do you responsibly use very addictive illegal drugs?
Aside from already being addicted to it, how do you get a prescription for using heroin?
How do you get a prescription for crystal meth?
How do square over 1 million deaths a year worldwide from crystal meth?
How do you call an overdose a poor choice when the overdose was caused by a highly addictive drug which requires you to increasingly use more to get the same result?
Cruz was finished after Super Tuesday when he was completely shut out. He claims he’s a Southern evangelical but got beaten to a pulp by a Yankee billionaire. Southerners saw right through Cruz’s holier than thou snit. He’s also not shown the ability to win any large primary states other than Texas, where 56% voted for someone other than him.
Check out Law Enforcement Against Prohibition - people who have done the “front lines” for decades are telling you its wrong.
“for decades are telling you its wrong.”
I have one uncle who was a big city cop and neither him nor any of his fellow city cops agree with LEAP. I also have 3 cousins and 2 more distant relatives who are big city cops and none agree with LEAP. BTW, they are not gung ho on incarceration for drug use and neither am I; Just a firm belief that legalising addictive drugs will create millions more addicts and deaths.
Thanks.
Its not an insult. Just a statement of fact. If Trump becomes president he will raise taxes, expand illegal immigration, enact gun control and appoint marxists to the Supreme Court. Those Freepers that defend him now will be here after the election vehemently defending every unconstitutional act of a Donald Trump Presidency.
The problem there is that accepting the current regime of mass incarceration ends up ruining the lives of countless innocent people who didn’t do any harm to anyone.
And it really isn’t effective. You can get any drug anywhere still. Usage hasn’t gone down over time. Same thing happened with alcohol during Prohibition - human nature has not changed, and can’t be forced to change with guns and prisons. The incarceration regime just does more damage without helping anyone.
And it’s ghastly expensive, and it empowers the government for when someone like Barack Obama or Hillary Clinton is calling the shots to do a lot of damage. Something like Fast and Furious couldn’t exist in a non-prohibition environment; the cartels wouldn’t exist without a black market of that size.
Nobody is helped by throwing people in prison. They are just breeding grounds where people in there for the essentially political crime of doing drugs learn to be real criminals.
I respectfully suggest that you are conflating the words “Republican” and “conservative”. In my opinion the people whom you have stereotyped as upper class conservatives are not ideological conservatives in the sense of advocating for individual initiative and for limited government that operates without its Constitutional mandate. They are simply self-interested people trying to preserve their own station in society. You do conservatism a disservice with that kind of un-nuanced gross categorization.
