Joe Scarborough: Donald Trump Is A Centrist Democrat On Social Issues, "It's Not Been A Secret"
RCP ^ | 4/22/16 | Tim Hains

Posted on 04/22/2016 8:39:14 AM PDT by KansasGirl

Joe Scarborough reacts to the debate surrounding the revelation of "two Donald Trumps" -- a conservative primary Trump giving way to a centrist general election Trump.

JOE SCARBOROUGH: [Trump] is going back to what he has always been. We have said on this air nonstop. He is a Democrat. He is a centrist Democrat. Who gave money to Democrats for years. He has never been a conservative. That's not been a secret to anybody. And yet he has blown the doors off every Republican primary.

And when he goes into the general election, it is going to be harder for Democrats to say he has been a right wing religious fanatic who is going to keep you away from abortion, and keep you away from same-sex...

It doesn't make it right or wrong, it makes it harder for Democrats.

Conservatives should never get into the cult of personality and we know deep down inside it takes a lot more than one person to turn it around. Trump may help, but I seriously doubt it based on his previous positions / money support.

In reading Dr. Anthony's work and tweets, he has studied personalities for decades. He is very wary of Cruz and his personality. He also has seen the destruction of society through clever PSYOPs and sees Trump as one who is not susceptible to it. I take it as not so much a cult of personality, but rather seeing that there is someone out there who has the warrior personality to take on this fight.
Regarding his previous positions and money support: People's attitudes can change, once their eyes have been opened. As a businessman working in a corrupt city, I would imagine one might have to work around the corruption. I don't know if it is possible to do business in some cities without making donations. Remember, he did this as a businessman, and not as a politician, buying political favors for power. Do I like it that this might have happened? Of course not. But it probably is the reality of a corrupt process.

Gee. I’d have thought only a twenty word comment wouldn’t qualify for “verbal gymnastics”.....my only experience with phrases or comment so limited is that the opinions given are widely understood and universal.

Further, Trump Steaks? Really? How about real citizen voters on one day in UT or CO?

If he starts zotting people who oppose Trump, I surely will.

Rather than going step by step over your list, I agree he has made statements that I don't support. In context, there has been a difference between statements made as a private citizen in the past versus a candidate now. I cut him some slack on that realizing his motives were likely more aimed at his business success. That's up to you to decide if you find him believable now.

As a candidate, on the big issues, he has been spot.

I continue to take issue with the Cruz campaigns very loose interpretation of Trump's illegal immigration plan, something they tried to define as “touchback amnesty”. There is no such thing in our laws.

On topic, I haven't heard a firm plan by Sen Cruz. Does he support deportation now, or a wall? Seems like he's been all over the map on this during his political career.

So Trump has no need to pivot to the center as he has been Center Right all along. That has been the key to his success in getting Independents, Blue Collar Democrats and others to vote Republican. It’s been a brilliant strategy and it has worked. So what you will but he has been pretty honest about his policies unlike most others.

actually he’s changed quite a few major positions...just like the others

Like many Trumptards, do you get a shiver down your leg when you listen to The Comb-Over speak - you know, ala Chris Matthews in ‘08?

In my life, there are two things I’ve found I’m very good at: overcoming obstacles and motivating good people to do their best work. One of the challenges ahead is how to use those skills as successfully in the service of others as I’ve done, up to now, on my own behalf. Don’t get me wrong. I also plan to keep making deals, big deals, and right around the clock.

I believe he meant it then and I believe he means it now.

1) Supported an increase in H1B Visas from 65,000 to 325,000 annually

2) Worked with Paul Ryan to pass TPA (Think TPP)

3) Voted for the horrible Iran Corker Bill

4) Passed out Teddy Bears and soccer balls at the Southern border to illegals with nutjob Glenn Beck

5) Lied about Ben Carson leaving the GOP Primary during the Iowa Caucus

6) Sent out those sleazy mailers in Iowa to blackmail Iowa voters

By the way, is Cruz involved in the attack on Phyllis Schlafly? Her Conservative record & identification is absolutely flawless. But Cruz is being accused of involvement with those trying to take her organization away from her. (I really do not want to believe that he would stoop to involvement in that; but he has been openly accused of involvement
_______________________________________________

Cruz is running for president...what good would it do for him to oust Schafly now? btw she personally endorsed Trump..the organization did not

"Candidates strong on 2nd amendment to not donate money to anti-2nd amendment Senate, House, and Presidential candidates as Trump has done."

PRINCIPLED candidates don't. Trump's only principle is to do what ever is necessary to make Trump rich.

If FR is going to go all in for Trump, then I believe every Freeper who got the zot for supporting Rudy Giuliani is owed an apology, and a welcome back with open arms.

Lets be honest here. I have no illusions about a lot things, Trump being one of them.

At the beginning last summer I could not see it, but with a couple of months I saw Trump as being the battering ram that just might expose all the Lies and Hypocrisy of both parties and all the Cozy, Crony deals going on.

Frankly Trump may have an uphill battle if elected President, even if he were to have a total mandate from the voters. It will take all his skill and charm as a peace maker and negotiator to get anything done. But maybe he can do it.

The only real positions he has changed are ones on social issues that he should have avoided as much as possible.

I think for the most part he has been fairly consistent on most things.

TRump replaces the GOPe, which has left the TRumpsters all orgasmic.

But then, he welcomes on board a couple of lawyer-lobbyists, Paul Manafort and Roger Stone, who are bent on being the "new GOPe" and whose big desire is to squash the entire conservative grassroots.

It was when Henry VIII hired Thomas Cromwell that the English people lost their freedom.

My bad. I just assumed like most of Don-Dons friends the defending of PERVERTS in our families facilities may have worn out your tongue or fingers.

This PERVERT thingy is a full blown general alarm fire in N.E. (Curt/Bloody Sock).

Wait till it hits the bible belt come Sunday going to meeting time.

The rules are the rules and all states make up their own...but you know that FRiend.

We may be apart now...but we better get ready for a shotgun wedding or we're all #$%$%ed.

In the meantime I'll fight for my guy and any delegate I can steal, rob, borrow or bribe.

Americans are like that. When it comes to politics.

Got my tar and feathers almost ready. :-)

This is why the MSM and the Establishment don’t understand what is happening to them. They never deal with people who actually have principles that they live by. Being Donald Trump is a system of behaviors that achieves results that are beneficial for all who are involved. Unless, of course, you treat him badly, then it’s Samson and the flaming foxes in your fields, vineyards, and olive groves. ;-)
