Donald Trump might have rolled to 60 percent of the Republican vote in New York Tuesday night, but he came in a distant third in the big scheme of things nonetheless. Keep in mind, this is the candidate and the campaign that constantly pout about one-man one-vote and popular vote totals.
They threaten to both call the lawyers about this concept and to riot in Cleveland over this. Thus, by Trump's own standards, Trump got thrashed in New York. Both Hillary and Bernie Sanders destroyed Trump in raw vote totals.
I'm not saying Trump didn't win the N.Y. Republican primary big. He did. I'm not even arguing that Trump is cheating to get 90% of the delegates with only 60% of the vote although I could do just that, again using Trump's standards and Trump's own words and Team Trump's talking points. It would be easy. All I'm pointing out is that even in a yuuuuuuuge win, the numbers put the lie to the Donald Trump campaign. This was his best night so far, and yet the seeds of disaster are obvious for any who would but pay attention.
That popular vote total should bring the pom-pom clan back to Earth.
Remember that Trump is supposedly the man who will by his mere presence put blue states, even New York, into play. The message board trolls drone endlessly about this. As do some websites and talk show hosts not to mention the Trump surrogates. Again, by their own self-imposed standard, Trump really got humiliated Tuesday night.
Consider: Hillary Clinton tallied over a million votes. Over three quarters of a million New York voters "felt the Bern." Trump was just over half a million. You say, "Okay okay, but it's New York."

Yes. He was a long timer, very intelligent, except as I recall on moral, religious, and political matters.
Yep, pitiful.
Exactly. There are plenty of Dems that will vote for Trump, including Sanders supporters if Hillary is the nominee
I believe C. Edmund was zotted awhile ago. I see his articles though are still drivel.
No idiot, there are no cross overs in NY, come election day Trump will get most of the independents and a ton of democrats who voted for Bernie
Independents can’t provide the math. A lot of blue-collar Democrats will need to vote for Trump for him to have a chance to win New York in the general. There will be a lot of them if he can manage not to alienate them.
I didn’t even realize but it’s good to know that he was because he was so annoying.
The GOP turnout was the highest in 40 years. And we don’t know how the Bernie voters, the independents, and third party members will vote. That said, it will be very difficult for a Rep to put NY in play.
See? Edmund wrong!
Again.
So the bernie sanders occutards really wanted to vote for Trump-per-center???
Bernie’s supporters claim his own numbers would’ve been even higher if the registered independents could’ve voted in the DNC or GOP primaries.
The author is not too bright....but rather badly uniformed regarding the voter demographics in New York State. This Primary election was a “closed” Primary and, it “only” allowed registered Republicans and Democrats to vote, Cut out were two & one half million registered independents, 800,000 registered Conservatives and, Democrats were refused ballots to vote for Donald J. Trump. Had the Primary been “open”, Bernie Sanders would have beaten Hillary Clinton and Donald J. Trump would have scored a 75%-80% victory over both Ted Cruz & John Kasich!!!
The Reagan Democrats, Conservatives, & Independents would have put Trump between 1.5-2.0 Million votes. End of story. Mr. Wright is far from the sharpest knife in the drawer as most of the media is.
I don’t think Trump will win NY in the general. Hillary will. But Trump will put MI and PA into play, and he has a good shot at winning OH and CO, and an even better shot at FL and NV.
Cruz will lose all of those, and thus the election. So what was the point of this article again? Oh, yeah, to bash Trump. Weak effort.
Donald Trumps embarrassing third-place finish in NYWhat does that say about Cruz, your favorite to beat Hillary/Sanders?
Ignorance is bliss.
Or perhaps they are campaigning for third party candidates (signing ballot lists).
Not if Sanders runs as an independent when Biden is sent in as Hillary’s replacement.
I think a lot of New York blue-collar and upstate Democrats voted for Sanders in order to register their dislike of Hillary. They weren’t voting for Bernie’s dogma, they were voting for him because he’s not her. This anti-Hillary crowd will be available to Trump.
Disinformation from the Uniparty politburo.
RE: What does that say about Cruz, your favorite to beat Hillary/Sanders?
It tells me that NY/NJ/CT is a lost cause regardless of who the Republicans put in.
Zotted?! No kidding? Very happy to hear actually. He was an insufferable arrogant jerk! How did he get the zot? He had been insufferable for quite some time.
