Pennsylvania, which holds its primary next Tuesday, uses a nonbinding “loophole” primary — and that could cost Donald Trump the Republican nomination.
If the state adopted the delegate rules of any other primary, he would probably be an even-money favorite, or better, to amass the 1,237 delegates needed before the convention.
Instead, his chances may come down to the whims of 54 unpledged Pennsylvania delegates.

He has gotten 49 million in donations and so much free publicity that that will be his first priority anyway. Going third party would be great publicity. YUGE!

He will carry the Primary by a large margin. A lot of the delegate candidates on the ballot said they will vote at least on the first ballot for the winner of the Primary in their district. If Trump sweeps a majority of the districts he will get the lions share of the PA delegate votes.
Rules apply only to those who oppose trump
Nope. There would be a bloody revolution. Not endorsing, just predicting. You will not give the middle finger to 16 million voters and expect to walk away unscathed.
Every single person who participates would be finished, forever. Cruz is already on thin ice.
But even in the states where the anti-Trumpers have kept a low profile, like OH with Rob Portman, the backlash is so strong already he will not get reelected. McCain going to be primaried by Kelli Ward.
This is the $64,000 question, isn’t it?
First, do they care? Probably many in the very top echelon think they can survive on their connections. Many of the Jonah Golberg/Ben Shapiro type bloggers will, unfortunately, still have a gig. Maybe a couple of senators with four years left think they can ride it out.
But those up for reelection in two years? I don’t think they can be so cavalier. People will remember, at least for two years.
So, some don’t care, some must.
But many others are going to be scrambling. McCain, Portman, and others are already on very shaky ground. Portman won’t win the general, McCain won’t win his primary. Maybe they have nothing to lose, but certainly they can’t expect help from the Trump people.
On a broader scale, the GOP cannot have a “Chicago 1968” on its hands. Such a PR nightmare would destroy what is left of the GOPe brand, even after Cruz has told voters they don’t count.
And trust me, Cruzers, that message is being heard everywhere, regardless of how legal it is. People are hearing what the Dems always accused us of: “The GOP tries to deny people the right to vote.” What Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson could not accomplish Ted Cruz has.
I don’t know what to predict, but I can tell you that the people inside the GOP are weighing this very seriously, because they think that either way they are screwed. We know better, but that’s why they are the stupid party.

The RULES have been in place long before Trump, but since they don’t favor him, they’re “Loopholes”.

There’s no loophole. You vote for three delegates in your district. And you choose for President. Statewide winner gets 17 bound delegates. Each district gets 3 unbound delegates.
You have to know whom to vote for as delegate. The information is out there. Do a little homework.
I agree. I have a couple of options that most people don’t have in that I have residency in Hong Kong and Singapore and could get it in the UK because of a British Son-in-Law. I can just walk away though I don’t want to.
I have a feeling that if Cruz gets his way the Libertarian Party is going to be catapulted into the number 2 status by August of this year.

The GOP will exist in the future as some weird fringe party that no one takes serious, so most of the top GOPe will have some place to go. Another party will hopefully emerge as an opposition party.
The Republican office holders are the ones that WILL BE TOAST. They all plan to go to K-Street for the big bucks after serving in Congress...but when no one listens to them as the Republicans are powerless, they will be forced to go home with their tails between their legs.

And living in this republic means that every voice matters, majorities do not rule and those with the loudest voices do not automatically win. The will of the people means all of the people.
The Founding Fathers worried about the tyranny of the majority and safeguarded against it, and that the Constitution works well by not allowing it to happen.

The Electoral College was created for two reasons. The first purpose was to create a buffer between population and the selection of a President. The second as part of the structure of the government that gave extra power to the smaller states.
The first reason that the founders created the Electoral College is hard to understand today. The founding fathers were afraid of direct election to the Presidency. They feared a tyrant could manipulate public opinion and come to power.
Hamilton wrote in the Federalist Papers:
"It was equally desirable, that the immediate election should be made by men most capable of analyzing the qualities adapted to the station, and acting under circumstances favorable to deliberation, and to a judicious combination of all the reasons and inducements which were proper to govern their choice. A small number of persons, selected by their fellow-citizens from the general mass, will be most likely to possess the information and discernment requisite to such complicated investigations. It was also peculiarly desirable to afford as little opportunity as possible to tumult and disorder. This evil was not least to be dreaded in the election of a magistrate, who was to have so important an agency in the administration of the government as the President of the United States. But the precautions which have been so happily concerted in the system under consideration, promise an effectual security against this mischief."
Hamilton and the other founders believed that the electors would be able to insure that only a qualified person becomes President. They believed that with the Electoral College no one would be able to manipulate the citizenry. It would act as check on an electorate that might be duped. Hamilton and the other founders did not trust the population to make the right choice. The founders also believed that the Electoral College had the advantage of being a group that met only once and thus could not be manipulated over time by foreign governments or others."

I am good with it. Let trump talk to the voters directly and let others discuss dumb details.
If Trump makes it to 1237 with bound delegates, the GOP will nominate him. No problems.
But here's what I'm worried about, taking Pennsylvania as an example. As the article stated, 54 PA delegates are unbound, even on the first ballot. That stinks, but we are stuck with it.
So suppose John Doe wins a delegate slot in PA. Maybe John has said he supports Trump, so he's put in the Trump column. But John can vote any way he wants. The GOPe offers John campaign money for the next time John runs for dog catcher. All of a sudden John is not a Trump delegate.
John would then claim he never really was an official Trump delegate: "I'm an independent delegate, and I have the right to do what's best for the party and the country."
If that happens, like many others here I'm done with the GOP.
GWB was greatly helped by the choice of Cheney as VP.

They will run lets “Sue Them” ads on rerun tv programs where the majority of viewers are on welfare/and or unemployment checks.
